I had the Flowmaster, but I just took it off the other day. Way too raspy. I even put on a resonator in hopes of removing the rasp, but only a tad better. Since I will be installing headers, I decided to go with something quieter to counteract the eventual loudness. If it didn't have the rasp, the catback does sound very aggressive.

Yeah, I think given the rest of the exhaust being open with a blower, it's just too much. For some maybe not. I feel like with just the cat-back it would sound nice. What catback are you going to?

Was going to build something custom, but just went with the MXP. It's so quiet compared to the Flowmaster. Figure with the headers and blower, I would be at a reasonable sound level.

Small Update:
I took the flowmaster cat-back off and put the OEM one back on. It's much more enjoyable for me now. Very quiet like OEM. I might be choking off a few HP but I'm very happy with it. I was in Europe the last week and a half and have a lot of travel the next several weekends.

Next Up:
- Dyno
- Install the whiteline products I have laying around

Your car looks super nice! I'll have to check it out sometime in person (I'm right in Herndon). I've got a black BRZ limited as well and drove Mach V's Innovate white BRZ. It's definitely the direction I'm learning towards for when I boost it.

On a side note, how do you like the SunTek CXP tint? I'm getting mine done next week and am either going SunTek or 3M. I hear great things about the SunTek (online) but haven't talked to anyone that's got a BRZ with it.

Keep up the awesome work. =)

Update
I'm at it again!!! I just bought a set of Wilwood 6-Pot front brakes for an 08+ WRX. It looks like everything will fit (just barely). It will be interesting, keep posted. The rotors are 355mm x 32mm which should give me a longer sustained performance at the track!

http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKits/Bra...%2c+except+STI

If anyone is interested in my existing set-up, please let me know. If everything works out, I plan to sell. I have a ton of goodies with it (new spare rotors, 3 other pad sets, brake coolers that i never installed). They are what I deem to be the best autocross set up (-16lbs per corner) and perfect for street and HPDE use. I just found their limits with a supercharger, long straights, and wear from the crazy compound pad I was running that literately ate my rotor!

I must say that your build is awesome and I love your approach to it! Keep up the great work!

My question to you is why are you using a WRX brake set-up? Are there no BRZ Big Brake packages that are comparable?

Thank,
Carlos

There are BRZ kits out there (Wilwood, Stoptech, and AP Racing) that are all relatively affordable. My brake kits have been more of a good deal on price and making it work. The benefit to this Wilwood kit if it works out is it's size. It's as big as the Brembo GT kit and a fraction of the price. 18s are a must. A 14" rotor is pretty serious, especially with a 6-pot caliper. I'll be almost doubling the size of my pad area. If this works, it could be a break through in the BRZ community for people who want something big. I think the AP Racing kit is probably the best designed but I'm willing to explore the possibility for the price I got them at.

I see now... sounds great! I hope it works out well for you. I will definitely be checking back regularly for updates on your build.

Thanks, I actually did a little more digging and the kit I bought is the narrow super-lite. So I don't gain as much pad size as I initially through but still 30% more than I have now. It uses the same bracket and caliper from the BRZ kit from Wilwood. The only difference is my kit uses a 355mm x 32mm rotor and the BRZ kit (which clears the OEM wheel) uses a 328mm x 28mm rotor. So likely the same clamping force but mine will be more thermal efficient and hold up better.

Got the brakes in! Man they are massive! I'm hoping to test fit this week, it's going to be very close. Sorry for the dirty pics, I didn't have time to clean them up:

Test fitted the brakes. Everything looks good and it clears! I'll have to find time to do the install.

Update:
I installed my new brake kit. I'm waiting on my Carbotech XP-10 pads, suppose to be here by end of day. I also need to wait until the morning for a buddy to come over and help me bleed the brakes. I will update with impressions but here is some media:
