More than likely the issue with GPS will require a firmware fix. I didn't read all the way back through the thread but this is due to the GPS rollover event in early April.

l.e. disconnected the gps, changed the date to 2018, I have music and no more resets. whenever I try to reconnect the gps antenna, the date resets to 1963 and it all goes to crap. which is unfortunate, because that counts for 80% of it’s usefulness to me.

still open to any suggestions...

I've been using an ownice c500 for a few years, it's OK and a lot better than the ca-fi and fits perfectly. See video link:

Yeah, this GPS issue has rendered the whole device unusable at the moment. It's a shame cause it has been great for many years. If anyone discovers any solution or if a new firmware comes out, please do let know.

I know the solution. Read (translate.google.com) my post here
You will find the file gps.default.so and firmware update_V3_dexp_logo in the same forum.
You need to turn off theGPS-antenna, install the firmware, replace the file gps.default.so, turn on the GPS-antenna. Good luck!

Thanks ! It's a bit tough to understand, translation sucks. I am assuming that you used an sd card or so to upload new firmware to it after making some local file changes on your computer ?

I used the existing rooted firmware I had then replaced the gps.default.so file with ROM toolbox file browser and adjusted the permissions of the file to match. Then reboot with the aerial now connected.

hthought Yes. On the computer, I replace the files \update\images\manufactorycfg\keymaps.xml (the assignment of device buttons) and \update\bin\set_partition (partitioning memory sections) with old ones from the native firmware. You can also replace the file \update\images\logo.bmp. Then write to the SD and flash. After the flashing and rebooting replace the file \system\lib\hw\gps.default.so.
86•BRZ I couldn’t replace this file on my native firmware (2015-03-18, rooted) because the Superuser does not allow access to it. But I did not try ROM ToolBox

The GPS-antenna can not be turned off. You can flash firmware, then park for a short time in a place where gps is not available - a tunnel, underground parking, etc. When the device stops rebooting, replace the file gps.default.so.
According to unverified information, the file can be replaced in our native firmware using the ROM Toolbox.

This issue came up again for me. It went away when it happened a few months back. Just reflashed to rooted firmware and replaced the gps driver... Hope this works.

hi guys,

probably not a lot of activity on this thread anymore - but can anyone help me with the rooted firmware? I want to give it a try using the solution that 86•BRZ posted above, but I've searched the internet far and wide and cannot find the firmware.

thanks for any tips

I'm uploading the firmware, I'll send you a DM when it's done. I have it named "root" but I don't recall if it was the correct firmware or not.
