Will these clear the stock struts or are coilovers required?

Never tried with stock struts. They cleared Feal 441s just fine.

Anyone that has mounted and balanced knows what it means. If it takes alot of weights to balance out the wheel then the tire isn't seated properly or the wheel could be bent.

For reference I had Rival 1.5s on these (245-40-17) and it took 4 oz of weights to balance out.

I specifically said I wasn't an expect on tire mounting...

So, assuming the tire was seated properly are you saying one of the wheels is bent?

So here's the the thing...
I could have posted these for sale and not mentioned anything about a wheel being tough to balance. Because most people don't have the equipment or knowledge on mounting and balancing a set of wheels and tires. And would not have known that there was an anomaly to begin with unless the shop that did the work we're nice enough to let then know. My guess is most would not.

But I do have the access to the above mentioned equipment and the knowledge on how this process works.... and I know that it's not a normal situation to put 4oz of weights on a wheel to balance out. So I noted that in my original post.
I don't have equipment to detect if a wheel is bent. But I have mounted and balanced this wheel twice and I can tell you it took 4oz of weights to balance the second time I put a tire on this wheel. I do not recall how it balanced out the first time.
If this bothers you, I would suggest you not purchase these wheels or any wheel that is in this price range.
Me personally, as an autocrosser with this setup, it's light'ish' and it's a pretty good looking wheel with a nice finish. I would buy it if looking for a really good STX bang for the buck.

yeah, I think you're right and I think anyone would appreciate your honesty. as someone who just pays the tire shop to mount and balance wheels, I would have no idea either way as long as they held air and didn't vibrate I would say they're totally fine. I think they're good looking wheels and seem like a good deal for a nice light weight wheel. good luck with the sale!

17X9 +40 will clear stock front struts. 9" +45 will not unless youre stretching a tire.
