Ok, I'll answer serious.

I had a corolla rental a couple years ago, and for a commuter, perfect car. But all the big Japanese companies are doing that great. My little bro is a Toyota fan, my older brother a Nissan fan. Me, for that kind of car, I have always been a Honda fan, but they are too ugly now. If I was going to buy a utility 4 door car, it would be this.

A fair point, but if that's your criteria you need to cross just about every diesel manufacturer (including domestics) off the list.

Anyway, a friend bought a new '18 Autobahn and had to replace the driver's power window mechanism that stuck open in the first month and the steering rack during the second month. This is the third month and it's been in the shop longer than he's owned it awaiting parts. He applied for Lemon Law status but he may just have bad luck.

There's something to be said for the reliability of a vehicle designed and built by Toyota although it's early to say how well the '19+ Corolla will fare.
Weird, it looks like US pricing has shot up. VW has the GTIs at $30,000 CAD with 60% residuals on 36 month, 26,000 km leases without any haggling. Maybe it's time for you to take a trip to British Columbia .

My sister bought a 2017 Corolla LE I drove it on a 300 mile road trip,it had all the safety bells and whistles, the ride and handling was pretty good ,however the CVT trans I found a bit strange ,but OK. My cars are a 2016 FRS and a 2002 Avalon,so I judge from that prospective. Good commuter or small family car.

For 2k more you can have a Golf Sportwagen with a DSG and AWD. Their 1.8t seems like a decent engine.

Gonna need to cross off a lot more that just them if we aren't supporting organizations that have purposefully tried to deceive people...

Was considering one of these compared to the 86 at the last minute. If I had known more about the hatchback 19's before I delved into the 86, I might have sprung for it. All in all it looks like a really nice and fun car all around and the styling is nice too.

Only thing I dislike about it is the now vogue oversized front grilles and fake exhaust ports.

1) VW reliability sucks. 2) I won't support a company as irresponsible and corrupt as VW 3) VW sells cars cheap now and to finance it, they have drastically cut customer support and will deny warranty coverage for any reason. 4) why would I want an automatic? DSG is an automatic, it's just not a slushbox auto. Still an auto.

Dependability is better than Subaru appearantly... https://www.jdpower.com/business/pre...dability-study

#2. You are indeed free to have that philosophy, as naive as it may be.

#3. Sounds like someone's been reading too many internet forums.

#4. Manual is 1k less expensive. Looking at wagons and crossovers for the wife who doesn't drive stick (), so i got a bit off track lol.

Speaking of off track, anything the Corolla hatch has over my suggestion?

I'm curious if the aftermarket is going exploit this new motor. I'd love to see some mods for the new corolla. I really like the new 19 hatchbacks.

Adaptive LED head and fog lights.

It's a big oversight to only have the choice of obsolete halogens that also earned Honda Civic Si a poor headlight rating from IIHS for the same reason.

In climate and terrain conditions like mine, HIDs or LEDs are so superior that I won't buy another new car without them.

Otherwise, I think you're suggestion has merit shown by the fact that wagons are quickly becoming the fastest growing market segment. They have a way to go to catch crossovers, but people are realizing that wagons can be even more versatile people and cargo carriers.

SUV's and crossovers are still "it" near term, but compact and midsize wagons are an attractive alternative.

My girlfriend has a 2018 Corolla Sedan. It has the SE package, so similarly equipped to the XSE. Fantastic car for what you pay, with an absolutely ridiculous amount of room in the trunk and back seats. She's on the fence between trading it in for the hatch, or a Tacoma. Let's hope I can convince her to do the sane thing and get the hatch.

Or have her wait until March for the 2020 Corolla sedan that sounds amazing on paper. No pricing yet, but they can't stray too far from the competition despite impressive content. Note the availability of an M/T!

JD Power is an industry schill and a joke. If you read JDP stats for reliability info, you need to dig deeper and reconsider your sources.

Cartel-like behavior, est. dead people, estimated additional future deaths, dead monkeys and dieselgate. Corrupt and irresponsible.
