Unboxing my MCS 2-way remote suspension system
After being on RCE T2's for a couple years, I felt like a change and trying something new. In comes a set of MCS 2-way adjustable coilovers with remote reservoirs. This is my first set of remotes I've ever had, and one of the main reasons for the upgrade. I will miss my T2's as they have been great, but looking forward to trying out the new setup. So far, the kit looks top notch with great support from MCS!

Nice!
Interested to see how you decide to route the hoses and mount the canisters. |

Nice! Interested in how you like these compared to the RCE Tarmac 2's. Looks like there's plenty of experimenting with adjustment to get what you want during this off season. Think you can mount the external reservoirs on the strut braces for the front (if it's long enough) and in the trunk through the vents for the rear. I'm guessing the surprise are some new Taiwanese headers

I'll be interested to hear what you think of how they compare to T2s. Robbie replaced his T2s with MCS singles recently and said the difference was noticeable, but not big.

Thanks for the photo.
I have seen others mount the reservoirs on the inside of the car. That is what I will be shooting for (in the rear).

I mounted mine in the spare tire well. Had to dismount the tire from the wheel because there's not enough room (and i wanted to keep using the wheel to support the weight of the trunk floor) but I like that the reservoirs are out of the way from contact with anything.

I would have liked to have done that with the ASTs but it looked like too much trouble. I don't know why the hose couldn't be mounted on the top of the shaft like the fronts were. *shrug*

Front struts on the AST are inverted like this picture so the 'top' is the damper body. Rear has the body on the bottom attached to the LCA, the 'top' of the rear is actually the damper piston. A "remote reservoir" basically moves the blue area in Tein's diagram to the cannister per the 2nd picture below. MCS like Justin has is non-inverted front struts so the reservoirs are on the 'bottom' but have the same configuration on the rear. It's why Justin comments about the thick shaft on the MCS, that shaft takes the entire load of the front suspension, the KW/RCE is the same design. As far as I know nobody has an inverted rear for this car, not impossible, but clearance is trickier and your shaft is at higher risk of getting contaminated which would lead to premature leaking and seal wear. It's probably better to just go to both adjusters on the piston shaft like Bilstein has, but that's just as pricey if not moreso than remote reservoirs.
