hah, hell, I spent $1400 on it in a day at Super Autobacs in Tokyo Bay. That place is like Christmas with cash registers.

I wish there was a list on the first page of shops who have done the swap...
So a few shops have done it like weapons grade performance and they actually offer a kit anyone else as of now?

That is with you providing the motor and tranny not turn key.

14k is not that bad. I sell all the needed parts and wiring harnesses for 16k. Mine includes the engine and trans.

I don't have a write up or anything I have sold 2 both to track guys. The engine and trans come as a combo from GM performance. The drive shaft is sold from ACC the rear axle re gear is around $500 and the wiring harness is from painless harness. You are on your own for a tune sense I do not have a canned tune for the swap. This also does not include any fabrication to make it fit and bolt up. This also does not include an exhaust. So it is not a bolt on thing with an engine swap like this it will take some fabrication and a custom exhaust.

I really like the idea behind this, hell, behind all motor swaps. love the thought of putting different engines in cars. BUT! I still prefer having the boxer motor in this car. Haven't gotten to see/hear a swapped 86 yet, but I think the burble fits it, and IMO it just works for it.

I'd like to see this, but I'd have to see corner weights before doing it myself.

The thing is, the twins already have a crappy F/R weight distribution (compared to say, S2k, MX5, RX8). What really pisses me off is that it looks like Subaru could have moved the engine back almost a foot to make the distribution better.

So if someone could get an LSx in there and push it back up against the firewall, then maybe, just maybe, it does not mess up the weight distribution that much. Of course the car would be a bit heavier, but the light tail is a bigger problem (to me) than having a few extra lbs.

However, I think that raising the CoG would be inevitable. I never thought it would matter that much, but it is definitely nice to have the low CoG in the turns. I absolutely love the way the car doesn't roll much while still having low enough spring rates to git a nice ride. I wouldn't want to lose that.
