Exclamation Purchasing a RS 1.0 FR-S (Deciding)

Hi guys Ive been a long time lurker on the ft86club back around before monogram came out, I created an account finally! Im currently seeing a sales guy at my loco dealership to purchase my very first car! Im trying to get my hands on the frs RS 1.0 and now just waiting on my approval for finance. I got a msrp price tag around 33-34k and with tax over here the price drives up really steep. I dont know if i should seal the deal beause I heard the RS 1.0 starts below 30k.

What do you guys think? is it a normal price range or to much?

LOL but for real though (since sarcasm never works on the innernet), you're allowed to post prices they give you here.

$38k seems really high. I would try going to different dealerships if I were you. The RS1s aren't that rare either, at least not rare enough to warrant that price premium, so I'm sure you can find another one around.

Worst case scenario: buy a Monogram (with basically all the same features) or wait for the RS2.

I think in my area there are 2 more the last time I saw my dealership, I looked up the two and it was at Toyota Guelph and the msrp price tags for them are around 34k and 33k before tax.

You could try pitting each dealership against eachother. Call them and say "hey these guys are offering me this price, can you beat that?". I think invoice is something like $29.5, so you're definitely not getting one for below $30k. Still, use info to your advantage.

Whatever happened to the whole Scion Pure Price program? I thought the point of that was so you wouldn't have to haggle.

Edit: Or you could just call the one with the lowest price and say that you want that specific car, and you'll drive over there today and buy it for $31.5 (or whatever you think is reasonable). Think about it from their end, the salesman doesn't need to waste his time going on test drives and waiting for you to call your wife, he just fills out the paperwork, hands you the keys, and gets his commission. Every salesman's fantasy. If they say no or try to bullshit you in any other way, hang up and call the next dealership.

Base models in Ontario sell from anywhere between $28 and 30K so $33-34k is right in the ballpark and actually a pretty good deal on an RS.1.
My 14 Lava cost me $30+ taxes with the TRD exhaust, intake, sway bars and lowering springs.
Just remember you won't get the lowering springs included in the Canadian version.
Oh and I have heard really bad stories about the Cambridge dealer so stick to Guelph if possible. The two that came into London were sold before they got off the truck.

Oh and you would have been better off posting in the Canada section because you will now have 100 people telling you that the price is way too high. Not everybody looks where you are from or understands that we pay way more.

That is good idea and about that pure pricing I was in a toyota dealership not in a scion. Not sure if that makes a difference and the sales dude was 3 weeks new there.

They are the same thing. Scion's pure price means that dealer can charge what ever he wants not that they have to charge MSRP. They can not haggle price and what is advertised is it. But... you can haggle extras so ask about lowering springs for free or reduced. As these are special editions though you don't have the power on your side.
Where in Ontario are you?

I see.. !!! Man the tax on my rs 1.0 is $4771 and im putting 8k down payment, that tax alone killed my down pay.. As of right now im still trying for this 1.0 you just helped me make sure my choice wasn't a unsatisfying one. TY

Nothing yet. Probably not revealed till Feb if they follow their normal pattern.
