Was sort of fun coming back to my 64 Impala on bias ply tires after a 6 or 8 month deployment. First hundred miles or so the car would bounce around so much I may have started the low rider craze.

Since this is the first time I'm ever storing a vehicle, did I miss anything? Will I uncover it in the Spring and find creatures living inside it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Make sure fuel tank is full.
Change oil since you don't want dirty oil sitting inside your car all winter.
However if you didn't change the oil and cannot do it yourself, than don't worry about it this year, but for future years I highly recommend it.

How does dirty oil sitting in the engine hurt anything? If you insist on changing oil you should do it when you start using the car again.

Very mixed opinions on when you should change it.
Before storage or after storage. You will get different opinions.

I used to do it after storage on my Subaru, however others told me that's a bad idea and you should do it before. Dealership told me to do it before also.

I change it before and after personally.

Really no need to do both. It isn't going bad sitting in there and since the engine isn't running it is breaking it down.

How I did mine. Product is a CarJacket from CarBag. I know not everyone has a garage, but I've used this setup outdoors with a different car with an extra outer tarp layer to protect the jacket.

Here's my routine:
-fill up with Shell 91 (car uses 91, and I use fuel from Petro Canada for my daily)
-over-inflate tires (some people even put soft mats under their tires in fear of flat spotting but I didn't use any and I didn't have any problems)
-wash & wax car
-air recirculation (I always put it on air recirc when parking)
-plug exhaust and add a note to your steering wheel/seat so you don't forget to remove it when you drive the car in spring and get CO poisoning
-use silicone lubricant around door, hood and trunk hinge
-use wheel chucks and leave car in neutral without hand-brake
-put bounty sheets in engine bay, interior to deter rodents (I might try Irish Spring soap bars this winter since the bounce sheets lose their scent in weeks
-unplug battery
-elevate car (so I can easily shovel around it) and put car cover on, then put a tarp over the car cover

EDIT: Here's a link to what some other people do. http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showth...winter+storage

I have a half tank of gas, will this hurt the engine?

Tires are at 35 psi

I washed and hand dried, no wax

Not sure about air recirc

Did not plug the exhaust, but it is covered with the OEM car cover.

No lubricant

Car has the brake on, but it's in neutral...

no bounty sheets

battery is in my basement on a charger, actually hooked it up and it was red, so it wasn't at optimal charge to begin with. Now it shows green.

I didn't elevate it, but I have the oem car cover on it.

Is anything I did or didn't do gonna be detrimental to the vehicle?

It's the first winter for the Subaru. I did get winter tires for it so I plan on driving it in the cold. But, when the weather gets inclement I take the old pickup to work.

I don't expect the BRZ to last forever, but that isn't going to stop me from babying it.
I expect it to last forever lol. I have a brand new tacoma that I enjoy a lot and my BRZ is a 2015 with only 2100 miles. I'd like to see it hit 10 years with maybe 20k miles and still in mint condition.

Regular traps and the little packets of poison did not work. I had rats living on my engine eating my wires. I had to clean rat crap off the intake manifold every day!

Got a bucket of this stuff and was rat free for 3 months. (yes that's like $300 per year)
Not much of a rat problem where I live. In fact, barely any rodent-type creatures in my neighborhood. Rarely see squirrels and chipmunks. Lotsa cats though lol

Half tank of gas... Car only has 2100 miles and i purchased it with 1500 miles, so i assume the dealership changed the oil before selling it to me.

I have a question on the wheel chock... if it's parked outside, can't someone just move the wheel chock and my car will roll into the street? Will the emergency break be less harmful than say leaving it in first gear or something like that?

Ok, the more I read, the more I feel like I am storing my car wrong and it will cause more damage than just driving it on sunny days with the salt on the road. Thoughts?
