Due to the lack of a center arm rest, I'm always either pushing the e-brake button or messing with the reverse ring in traffic.

Back on topic, I've encountered rattling on more than one occasion. Slow speeds or low RPM's + moderate to heavy load will do it...but since you said you're using light load, it sounds a bit more serious.

I hope this noise doesn't become another BS warranty thing like what happened to the V160.... I'm sure that made Toyota upset.

This was pretty much what Subaru service told me, I guess I got used to up shifting too early in my truck, which has way more torque and could handle the low rpm+slow speed. I've been trying to be more careful, but the engine winds up so quick, I find it very difficult to stay in gear when driving around the city.

That's what she said... Couldn't help myself

I experience the exact same thing... I often semi-stop at stop signs and stay in second gear accelerating from about 9-10 mph (is this bad for the car? - obv I should be stopping at stop signs but disregard that for now...) when I experience "the shakes"

I find I need to get over ~10 mph to not lug the engine in second. I find the car can maintain speed at 2k RPM and preferring to accelerate over 3k.

Is it the entire car shuddering? I remember some taxis shuddering under acceleration when the rpm is low. Torque fluctuation?
Seems odd.

Picked mine up last night and noticed the same rattling. Kind if annoying.

Is this rattle people talk about happening under the hood or at the shift nob?
If it's under the hood, then I notice the same thing too.
Do you notice that noise happening when you are doing engine brake too?
I hear it both during acceleration and engine braking between 1500 RPM and 2000 RPM.

P.S. I know how the direct injection noise sound like and I'm not talking about that.

I noticed that the sound tube resonator box can easily rattle against the intake manifold.

It has soft rubber mounting.

The injector pump for direct injection makes a knocky / rattley sound. Its on the drivers side of the motor, on the top at the front. If thats where its coming from, thats normal.

Same thing here, but I think it's just clutch chatter.

Clutch in at low rpm and it goes away.

Same thing here. Automatic. I can reliably reproduce the issue going slowly (20-30 MPH) up a slight incline between 2k 2.5k RPM in regular drive mode.

I play with that too often, through the car into Reverse at a light once! Never again though, - no more playing. Reverse lockout ring is not a toy.
