First session on the 25th, I'll be leading the novice group around the track for a few slow(ish) laps so that they can get acquainted with the layout of the track and the lines through the corners.

Then during the day, I've made myself available as a track taxi to take folks out for a couple of hot laps, either joyrides or to suss out the lines and braking points. @JouMaSeHoes will be organising this, so you need to contact him and get your name on his list.
I'm not sure exactly how he wants to handle this, but I suspect that he'll be rattling the tin for a small contribution to the charity.
That sounds perfect

@JouMaSeHoes, could I please get on your list for the Fish Eagle Taxi Service

Indeed I am. I meant to do it last weekend with my pads and disks but it got dark too quick so I left it. That was more important because I needed to start wearing the pads before breaking them in properly. So far the aftermarket brakes feel a lot like stock, but I'm also curious to feel the difference of braided lines

Seeing as you're the first to put up your hand, you should have the choice of whether you'd like to drive your own car for that 1st session, or join me in my car.
It'll probably be about 3 slowish laps leading the pack around, and then we can give it horns for a few laps.

Would it be possible to do some laps, then hit the pits and swap cars? That would be a pretty good way to get a headstart on the day

Which aftermarket brakes did you install? I went back to stock and there was a huge difference between them and the power brake disks and endless pads.

I installed the PB Disks and Endless pads. I did the SS lines with a buddy today, but as we were finishing up we noticed a leak on the driver front hardline connection . The car is currently still on stands until I can do more troubleshooting - nighttime is not the best time for doing work in a wheel well. I'm going to make a thread about that because I'm all out of ideas and I'm starting to worry.

Did you get PB braided lines?
I stayed with stock lines because they didn't have braided lines in stock when I bought.

How many consecutive laps would be possible on stock fluid and pads before needing cooling down at RSR? Are there going to be multiple sessions for each group? My 30k service brake fluid flush is in 4mnths- and I'm trying guage how much I NEED to change now.

Will this be your first time on track? Have you done any motorsport before?
I'm trying to get an idea of how hard you'll be hammering your brakes.

A first-timer on track could get away with no overheating at all, or minor overheating, whereas I'd totally kill your stock brakes in 3 laps.
So don't let me near your car ha-ha!!

Red Star is relatively light on brakes, especially for novices who aren't pushing it too hard. You should be OK with a warmup lap, plus 4-6 hot laps, or more laps with a cool-down lap every 3-4 laps. If you keep your driver's window open, you'll smell the stock pads cooking and you should feel pad fade before your brake fluid boils. Pad fade is quite progressive, whereas fluid boiling is more dramatic and can catch you by surprise.

Classes will be determined based on driver experience and car capacity. There are likely to be 3 or 4 classes, and each class should get 4 or 5 x 20 minute sessions during the day. Trust me, that's enough at Red Star, because the track's got lots of corners and it's hard work.

A lap of Red Star for a novice in a stock 86 should be about 2m45, so a 20 mins session gives a warmup lap and about 7 fast laps.

Don't worry. You'll be fine, and you'll have great fun. It's a stunning track and a lot of good, safe fun.
If you're worried about your brakes then talk to me there, and I'll guide you how to enjoy your car within it's limitations.

Hey @FT_86_SM_GP I don't see your name on the list. Come on, it's going to be a great day and possibly the biggest 86 gathering yet.

Yup, those are the ones. I finished the install today

My hose routing skills aren't the greatest and I ended up with an unnecessary bend. Thinking of curves in your head when you are trying to line up a banjo bolt and hangar bolt with fluid leaking all over the place tends to encourage mistakes. I just followed the path of least resistance and this is what I ended up with, but I could've planned it a bit better, sigh. I should've taken a photo with the wheels off, but I was so glad to be done that I couldn't wait to get the wheels back on

As for feel... they feel a lot like stock o.O. When I pumped them up with the engine off, they got rock solid. However, with the power from the engine and driving around, they are firm, but they don't engage instantly. I'm pretty sure I bled them really well - all the bleed valves spat nothing but crystal clear fluid.

To be fair, this is light to moderate city braking. I still have to feel hard braking when I bed in the pads properly.
