FT-86 II Wallpapers from Toyota Europe
I love the new design, I think it's more aggressive. Can't wait for the them to release the specs.
Head over to the link below to hear the beautiful engine start, engine rev and exhaust sounds. I thought that was great of them to include that. Hearing it more clearly gives the FT-86 more personality to it. From http://www.toyota-europe.com/innovat..._ii/index.aspx |

Have been away in the field for a while now, just got back so I don't know if this has been pointed out yet.
The video at the Toyota website of the FT-86 II was made using material from Gran Turismo 5. All of the locations in that video are tracks in GT-5, and especially of note, you can tell they used the GT5 engine to render it when they show the car driving in the snow. The particle effects for the snow kicked up from behind the car are a dead ringer for the ones in GT5. I expect an FT-86 II will be made available via an upcoming DLC. Hopefully it will sport realistic stats on the car....~2800lbs and 200hp from an NA 2.0L boxer 4. ***EDIT*** Well, I guess I'm out of the loop. I went to the Gran Turismo website and lo and behold...there sits the video for the FT-86 II. I guess I'm a pretty sad individual for being able to identify which freaking game engine was used to render promotional materials haha. I now expect that Gran Turismo 5 is going to be the most accurate source for performance of the FT-86 up until it's actual debut. The physics engine is very accurate and assuming Polyphony Digital releases the car via DLC (which I would expect given that they already have the model for it, which is the most time consuming thing to create), with updated specs, I think it will probably be the next best thing to owning it until I do indeed own it. Now they just need to get rid of that wing (or include a delete option a-la Mustang GT) and the ridiculous LED lights up front. And pretty much fix the entire lower front facia/chin area. And make those heat extractors beneath the A-pillars functional (I think they look great but if they're not functional that's just flat out disappointing. Then again, with a 200hp naturally aspirated engine, I doubt cooling is an issue for the car and they're probably not necessary at all). Last edited by Maxim; 03-05-2011 at 05:50 PM. |

Can anyone Photoshop a Silver version of the first two wallpapers?
Maxim, In GT5 the original FT-86 concept has these specs: Displacement - 2.0ltr Max. Power - 221HP/8000rpm Max. Torque - 157ft-lb/6500rpm Drivetrain - FR Length - 4100mm Width - 1760mm Height - 1260mm Weight - 1000kg I wonder how far from reality or the final production car it will be. And it is non-turbo. It's a very fun car when it's lightened and tires upgraded. |

it's a very fun car when it's bone stock in GT5. Toyota needs to make it drive exactly like that!

NESW20, you're right, even stock it is super fun around the corners! The car has a nice "roll" to it.

hmm - the brakes on the black ft86/2 are bigger and 2 piece rotors -
and the car in frankfurt has smaller 1 piece rotors with red brembos - this should be the production car brake system |
