Arrow Crashdummy's Release Series 1.0 build

Hello all!

I have spent many hrs lurking and reading your posts, thank you for all for knowledge that you have logged in here, hopefully I can make a few contributions too.

Back story

Purchased "Nanako" on June 30th 2015, she has 2,656 fun miles on her now. Haven t experienced any of the crickets, or other stuff that ppl complain about. I can live with the small rattles and the road noise, just the electronic babysitters I can do without. The babysitters are no more!

Most of the mods right now will be non performance type. I still need some time with the car and more input is need for me to decide which way to go.

Edit: Have 12,000 Miles on her now and all is well.

Edit: Have 17,500 Miles and purrs like a kitten

Edit: 2/25/17 Have 30,009 Fun miles on her, 3 major road trips and no problems.

Edit: 5/9/17 Damn Racoon damage has been fixed. Took them 3 trys to paint the front splitter!

Edit: 4/1/2018 Have 41,000 Miles on her. Interior redo is progress.

Edit: 5/1/2019 Have 50,200 Miles on her. Interior and Sound System Complete.

RS 1.0, the next day

Accomplished a few things:

Diode Dynamics Front Fog Lights - Done
New Fog Light Stalk - Done
JDM Clear Side Marker Lights - Done
Hella horns - Done
Clutch Spring Removal - Done
Tint license plate lights - Done

Front Fog lights

According to the wiring diagrams, this FR-S is pre-wired for factory fog lamps all the way to the front end.

Pin 4 White wire

Pin 3 Red with White stripe and pin 5 White with Red Strip at the BECM

Look for these connectors where the turn signals extension plugs plug into

Pull them down, and 3 of the 4 pins are populated on the turn signal extension plug, on the car side, all 4th are there.
The missing pin on the extension side is for the fog light.

Thanks to my friends at International Auto in Sheboygan, I got a hold of the correct weather pack pins to put in the connector and also the H11 connectors

Assemble?

Installed the clear corners also

New Fog Light Stalk with Rear Fog light option:

Steering wheel removal

Clock Spring removal
MAKE SURE YOU DONT MOVE IT OR TWEEK IT TOO MUCH
you can damage it!

Switch Assemblies removed

Push this tabe to remove the wiper switch

Push wiper switch into new for light stalk assembly

Install assembly back on to steering wheel column, and return clock spring assembly and mount steering wheel

Test?

Success! Must have been left ON in the BECM from the factory.
In testing all the options, the fogs only come on when the headlights are ON, and go off when the brights are turn ON in either Flash mode or constant ON.

Hmmmmm I like driving with my park lights and the fogs ON at the same time, without the head lights, Hmmmm, figure that out later...

on to the rest!

Hella Horns

Removed the Stock horns

Wired up

Made custom mounting brackets for them

Connected to factory horn wires

Horns and Fogs grounded to factory ground points

Finished

Clutch Spring Removal

Tools needed

Hook Tool - your best friend and some times your worst nightmare

Flat head screw driver - aka combination pry bar, paint scraper, scratch awe etc

Pull the C Clip off and then push in the clutch pedal, at the same time,
forcefully pry the pin LEFT and it should pop out, release the clutch pedal. You may have to move the top around for it to get it all the way off.

Once you get the top off, you can pull the C clip on the bottom and that pin Left too, and should pop out easly.

I can tell a difference right a way without even driving it!

We will have to see in a few days

Tinted license plate lights

They were too bight IMO, so why not darken them

A lil VHT Night Shades does the tick!

thats all for now, have a good one................

day after last

Didn't accomplish much today, but one thing:

Install Bug Screen in front of condenser

To keep the bugs and rocks from damaging the A/C condenser, you put a screen infront of it. Have done this on all my cars, really does the trick.

A bar of aluminum, some screen, glue and a strip of vinyl and wa-la, ready to install

A little epoxy trim adhesive on the bottom to bond it to the frame

Not worried about it looking perfect on the bottom, it gets completely covered

more to come!
