Update: I'm still getting some slight clunking, but moreso there is creaking/squeaking from the front. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it mainly happens when I turn the wheel from full lock right back the left (makes the noise when the wheels are just about centered again). Any ideas? How hard is it to swap the stock tophats back on?

There's a DIY on how to do shocks without compressing the springs. If you follow that it should be fairly easy.

I'm getting this sound when backing up out of my drive way. Not sure if its the cmounts or the rce springs and Konis.

Spring pop? I only say this because the noise didn't appear until you turned the wheel.

Not quite sure. It only does it in the morning when leaving the drive way. I tried to make it happen in a empty lot doing dumb things.

So for the last week now mine have been just like this. Same issue and all. I took them off tonight and the bearings are pretty rough to turn with your finger. Stocks are back on. Emailed whiteline. Will see what happens. Have the koyo bearings.

Did the noise go away with the stock tophats?

I have not installed mine yet but the bearings turn smoothly by hand. I know many of the people with the updated hats are having good luck with them. Will be interesting to see what happens here....

What way are you assembling the spring and strut assembly with the top hat? Are you using a spring compressor? I had a buddy who installed his using the "drop the car on the strut" method and he ended up with the same type of clunking noise. Re-did the suspension with a spring compressor properly and it was gone.

I used a spring compressor with my new Com-C's with the Koyo bearings and have no noises at all, running them with RCE Yellow springs. I think using a spring compressor is important to getting the geometry right on the top of the strut shaft and bearings when tighetning down the top nut.
