Yep I was thinking the same thing. High-revving NA engine + lighweight fun chassis.

Too bad this new one sounds like it's following a different formula, but I suppose it will be faster around the Ring for whatever that's worth.

Yeah the video I found had both the Integra and Civic trounced by all the cars you mentioned.

The only car slower was the MRS...

Watch the first 6 minutes and 30 seconds of the video.

When I talked about the video, I said it was the sedan.

I had a 99' GS-R Integra that I bought when I turned 18. I loved that Effin car! Granted, first car purchased with own money..... so naturally you will always have an affinity for it. The car was left damn near stock except for lighter wheels, better tires, and a couple other little things.

The car was an absolute pleasure to drive! The canyons were fun to carve, autox was a blast in it. It made my dads evo feel boring around the track because you could just wring it out and toss it around and it was so forgiving. Not to mention, the B18 Vtec motors were amazing and smooth. Honda had the recipe right.

Long story short, got car jacked at gun point for it and the a$$holes stripped and burned it to a crisp.

Went through my fair share of cars after that. FWD, AWD, and RWD. If I had never been car jacked, I would still have that car today and loving every second of it.

They changed the tires, making the results not comparable to their older tests as tires have gotten better.

Only way to do tests like these is with all the cars on the same type of tire...

RWD = The new stick shift.

It used to be that if you wanted to set yourself apart and be the coolest dude on the block, you'd buy a stick shift and tell everyone how cool you were for not getting an auto. Nowadays, autos are superior, so people buy RWD and now they are the coolest dudes ever. Lmfao

I mean for gods sake, a stock Scion tC could beat the FRS around a track.

Holy crap I agree with you for a change!!!!!!
I am old enough to remember the day when people bragged that they had FWD and all us RWD guys were dinosaurs that were way behind the times!
That was also the times when MTs were called "standards" as that was what cars came with and autos were the upgrade that people raved about.

well that's why I don't follow the crowd. I go for what I want in this case it was rwd and mt. It's 'my' ideal setup. But some persons will buy the R and love it. To each their own.

Yep! Many seem to miss the "my ideal" aspect when saying what is best!!!!!

He's a troll. Don't feed him.

He knows absolutely nothing about cars. Obvious from his statement about manual transmissions.

Automatic being faster is true for the top of the line gear boxes. As far as I know, everything sub 40k is slower in auto trim.
But it really doesnt' matter. People buy MT for driving feel, not because its faster.

The GTI is probably one of the few exceptions to this (sub-$40k). The DSG/auto version is faster in a straight line and on the track than the 6MT.

Still wish I had gone with a manual on mine though.

Come to think of it, I wish it was RWD too. No offense to the FWD (or auto) crowd, just my preference.

Some would argue the gti dsg has a clutch and is therefore not a true auto.
