So, I went to Farm and Fleet, an authorized Michelin dealer, to warranty my Primacies and get a solid prorate on a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They told me to come in the next day for a tire inspection and then I could order them after that. I went the next day and sat around for an hour while they looked at my tires, only to have them call me up and say, sorry we can't warranty these tires. I asked why and they said that the tires had "far too aggressive wear" and they had "burnout wear". I was like WTF but these guys were adamant about it and said Michelin wouldn't warranty my tires.
Now, I've driven on these things very aggressively. Lots of backroad driving and plenty of autocross, but the last 3000 miles or so have been normal DD miles and a few road trips. So how the hell did they figure that I had "burnout wear"? I'm gonna Jack up my car today and look for rubber or something stuck on the rear, but as far as the tires go, they look like standard 0/32nd tires. I have cords coming out on the front and the rears have less than 2/32nd for sure. They were rotated before winter. I need to find a way to make these tires look fine because there aren't too many authorized Michelin dealers in Urbana that I can try...

There's also the chance they saw sports car and knew they could deny it easily. Call Michelin USA.

Always first deal with the manufacturer and then have them get in contact with an authorized shop. I just did the same on my dunlop tires that were falling apart.

We currently got one guy that likes to instigate a lot and is on the edge of getting the boot if he keeps his stupid shit up. While we've had to let go of another guy before cause he couldn't get along with anyone. So hopefully that sent a message to others. I'll also add that guy that lost his job uttered he may come back to shoot up the place. And yet, not one fuck was given that day.

@Guff
Am I missing something here, I don't think you can be upset if you drive the crap out of the tires. If the cord are showing, there isn't much you can do to make them look prematurely worn from 'regular use'. You also have to understand that Michelin isn't stupid, they know how long their tires last. If there was a tire warrantee issue, it would be for maybe 1 tire, not all four corners. Don't try to jank Michelin just because you don't want to cough up for new rubber. |
