For us, novices get booted after 6 events, or after winning a trophy.

We run a spring series and a fall series and give trophies at the end of each series - four events, drop your lowest score. One caveat is you're allowed to finish a series if you start in novice; so if you run four events in spring, don't win a trophy, and run one event in summer, you can still do a full fall series in novice before getting booted.

As gung-ho-competitive as I am, not everyone needs to be that way, especially when you're still a novice and evaluating if this (rather expensive) hobby is worth the time and money. If it weren't for more casual folks regional events would cease to exist. Give them a happy place to play and don't put pressure on them to be the number one stunna and they'll keep coming back.

Question for those who have installed koni shocks and trd springs -

We're you able to gain more negative camber up front than when the car was stock ?

I killed my stock brake pads doing HPDEs. I don't plan to do many (any?) more of those, so I am looking for a replacement pad for street driving / autocross. I don't want to deal with noise or much extra dust. Should I just buy new OEM pads?

I never had a problem with the amount of bite the stock pads have, until I overheated them a few times and now they don't grab well.

Anyways, recently I just did the sound generator delete and put in a Perrin Inlet Tube. Apparently, according to the first post in this thread, it's not allowed. And this tube that adds maybe 1hp bumps me to STX? Am I correct or incorrect? =/ I'm still a noob, I don't want to go to STX yet, and especially when I'm in a pretty much stock vehicle. Looks like I'm going to have to put back on that sound generator and stock inlet tube this weekend.

For those in CS class, has something like this ever happened to you before? Maybe when you were new to autocross?

Have any of you in CS did the sound generator delete, but left the stock intake tube, and plugged the hole that would lead to the sound generator? e.g. - http://www.dynosty.com/2012/06/dynos...be-delete-kit/ If that's allowed in CS, I may do that.
I disconnected the sound tube at the firewall and plugged the hole in the firewall. Sound is still being generated but no one is there to hear it.

OEM is fine for street/autocross, but there are upgrade pads that still don't squeal or dust extra.

If you do any more DEs make sure you get a real pad.

I don't have the Konis yet but that shouldn't matter. You gain a little bit of front camber, I'll hopefully get numbers the next time the car goes in for service (this week or next).

I personally care less about camber numbers and more about "is the tire rolling over too much or is it just right?" Right now rollover is just right. We'll see if that changes on 245 Rival S tires.

Pretty much the same camber I had before. This is with springs + camber bolts + fat man pushing on it while tightening everything down.

Do they make crash bolts for the rear? I'd almost want to bring it back out to -1

At my first event last year I came out of nowhere to PAX second (+1 for stock tires in 45 degrees and super-rain, -1 for Trevor Jones showing up and ruining my best chance ever at FTD by a full second). Apparently I caught someone's attention because at tech for the second event they asked a lot of questions and pretty heavily scrutinized the car.

Really? At a local? Sounds like power got to someone's head over there.

Tech isn't there to determine eligibility for a class, they are there to ensure your car is safe to run.
