Other than cargo space. The S2000 is superior in every way.

There are plenty of people trying to find an 86, and you can whine about some other car. Unless you paid over MSRP, or have high miles, you should be able to get most of you money back
It's nice to say "this is a minority don't worry about it" but all evidence leads me to believe this CAN affect EVERY owner, the service bulletin that was posted said it occurs when you up shift at redline for gears 3 through 6, this is NORMAL operation that most owners will do at some point during ownership and could occur during daily driving.

Worrying about it is completely normal, this thread SHOULD exist. I'll agree that calling for the crucifixion of Toyobaru is premature but if they don't have a reasonable solution to an actual problem it'll be a big blemish on the car and the companies.

A couple of noob questions... I read this thread from front to back and didn't see any mention of aftermarket injectors. Has anyone who replaced their injectors with aftermarket injectors experienced this problem? I also heard that independent Ecutek tuners have incorporated the necessary retard into their tunes. Anyone have any firsthand experience with the new tunes?

The problem is with the direct injectors. The chances someone making an aftermarket version of them is slim to none. They are horribly complex to manufacture and design, include laser welding very specific nozzles and spray behavor specific to this engine. Very few companies posses this manufacturing ability.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with the injectors just their seals appear to be a weak link.
And there are aftermarket seals available for other injectors:

The thread title should more correctly read: 'Combustion chamber leaking due to broken/missing injector seals'. (The direct injectors are not leaking).

Anyone have access to the Subaru Technical Information System?

It looks like a new revised version of the 11-130-13 TSB was posted today:

11-130-13R Technical Service Bulletin Difficulty Starting, Rough Idle, Cam Position or Misfire DTCs Jun 19, 2013

I'm assuming the R is for revised?
