OFT and Stock headers and exhaust

whats going on everyone,
back again with another question. so I was looking into getting coilovers and then getting the OFT buuuuuuut, I can't stand this idle dip any longer! I'm just going to get the eibach sportline springs and get the OFT to get rid of this dip. my question is, will I be able to run (and get rid of the torque dip) and tune the OFT with my stock headers and exhaust? if this has already been asked and replied to please redirect me. I was at a meet last night and I talked to a guy that was running OFT on stock headers and he said it cleared it up almost gone. I'm trying to get outside perspectives to see how true this is. thanks in advance

In short, yes. I run stock headers + exhaust (only a Berk HFC FP) and I can confirm that torque dip is gone and oft allows a lot of tuning to be had even with stock/oem parts.

so Im able to run it but I would have to run it on the 1st tune and not the second tune correct? the dip is completely gone or is it just pushed down to 2k?

Correct, you'll run STG 1.

Even better, take the stock headers off, bash the cat out, and run OFT Stage 2 EL.

Stage 1 helps with the torque dip but doesn't eliminate it. Stage 2 with a gutted cat evens out the torque dip but the car still doesn't pull like it should. The torque should build steadily with increased RPM but in the erstwhile torque dip it just plateaus and builds again after 4k or so. Check out some stage 2 dyno sheets and you see it. Still stage 2 + gutted cats makes the car a lot better- like a new car.

I run the Stage 2 EL (Petrol) tune on my OEM-Header HFC.
From the logs it was worse on stage 1, it likes stage 2 much more.
Dip is gone for me. Hell lot of a difference a highflowcatalyzer can make.

So you have a high flow cat on your front pipe? Or you gutted the cat on the headers and left the front pipe?

Modified OEM header. stock-cat out. HFC in.
Frontpipe is umodified.

Logs are looking pretty good. Little FLKC but nothing significant.

If you're purely street driving it I would skip the coil overs and put a good header and oft tune. E85 if its available and you wont be worried about a torque dip.

Concur with above. E85 + tune = win. Headers make it even better.
