MPG expectations? FR-S and BRZ
Hello everyone, I was wondering what do you guys think how good will the mpgs be on these cars since this is going to be my daily and I drive about 50+ miles a day atleast. 200hp car weights about 2822+ driver. I don't know much about the boxer engines. I drive about 80% highway maybe a little less.
Thanks guys cant wait until march |

Doesn't really matter since it was for the JDM car with whatever method they use anyways. Wait for the official specs.

I'd guess that was either highway or combined. I think most people thought that was combined. I don't think anyone confirmed how it was rated though, and that came from a tech manual which may not be 100% accurate anyways Luckily we only have to wait ~8 days for some real specs.. and then 1.5 months for US Spec specs.

Easiest way to get an estimate is to look at similar cars. RSX-S, Celica, Civic Si, etc. People online say high 30s cruising highway speed for those cars, so I'm guessing around that, possibly 40.

None of those cars have a boxer engine, will that effect the mpg at all?

Well all things being equal, a boxer engine having better balance would give it a tiny advantage. Subaru's old boxer engines were very...well, old, and they were pretty thirsty, but this one is a complete, modern redesign. I'd expect efficiency to be on par (or close, or better) with typical Honda/Toyota.

I mean, maybe i'm different, but I am more concerned with the first two rather than fuel economy. To answer your question though, it will be pretty good. Around 30 hwy as others have mentioned. |

I don't think it's sad. The car clearly packs some extra weight because of the 2+2 seating, is that sad? A low cost car that is supposed to be driveable daily NEEDS practicality and cost considerations like this. Maybe you don't care how much money goes into fuel, but most people do. Just by shopping a sportier offering you are already sacrificing aspects of comfort, cost, and utility, I don't think anyone thinks fuel economy should come first (and it almost never does, in any car).
