As one of the hottest commodities in the affordable rear-wheel drive sports coupe segment, it's only to be expected that most aftermarket brands will develop not one, but many styling kits for the Toyota 86 and its siblings, the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ.

Earlier this year, Japanese tuner Wald International released its first take on the JDM Toyota 86 with an assortment of aero parts including a front half spoiler, side skirts, a duck tail-like boot lid spoiler, and two-tone alloy wheels.

Now, just a few weeks ahead of the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon in January, Wald has presented a more aggressively styled aero package that borrows the front half spoiler and side skirts adding new parts for the rest of the car.

These include a new hood with prominent air scoops, the design of which reminds us of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren's bonnet air outlets, rear fender extensions, a rear diffuser with quad tailpipes, a wide rear wing and deep-dish, five spoke alloy wheels housed in low-profile performance tires.

In Japan, the front half spoiler, side skirts and rear skirt can be had for 231,000 Yen (approx. US$2,760 or €2,095 at today's exchange rates), with pricing for the rest of the parts to be announced next year.

If they make a version of this kit for the BRZ front end, I'm all over it.

Looks like MB Black Edition with all the ridges and aero lines. I like it better than the RB widebody.

Not a fan.

The hood vents look like they should be on the side of the car.

Or on a Mercedes.

The front bumper is good. But the side skirts and rear fenders don't seem to flow with the car, and even seem to have contempt for the car's lines.

The spoiler is cool looking. But I'd have to see it from behind to see if it really carries the vertical lines of the fenders properly.

I like the rear bumper/diffuser, though I'm not sure I like the quad tips. It might be because Ferrari and Lexus have kind of soured that design by having fake tips. Not sure.. What I'd love to see is a bespoke axle-back with a low profile muffler can to allow for an actual diffuser.
