All this is just an educated guess so take it for what it's worth, just thinking out loud. There is also probably more than one way to be competitive.

Exhaust is 5 points, that's a lot, especially when e85 and a tune are free.

Yes, just shocks, stock springs.

One can always have their car dyno reclassed and go from there. Debating not spending any money and just running TTC this year, If I like it, can start prepping car for the next year.

Have to figure out my job situation first tho, getting laid off due to outsourcing, can't seem to find anything that offers more than 5 days of PTO first year.

Need new track pads. Have XP8's for the rear, that look almost new. Would using CL RC6/RC6E's in the front be too big of a difference brake balance wise?

I'm guessing i don't need to worry about it but I want to bed them in as best as I can on the street, so I thought it was worth asking.
If you're boiling your fluid you're not bedding the brakes properly. Bedding is about heat cycles and creating the proper transfer layer. If you're boiling the fluid (even stock) you're putting way too much heat into them for too long.

Ouch. That doesn't get classified as BTM because it's a factory option right? That sucks since there's no way it's giving you the downforce as a proper spoiler like an APR that gets counted the same points.

Reversed stagger tyre setup

Hi guys,

I'm trying the following on my otherwise stock 86:
Stock Primacy HP 215/45R17 tyres at the back, 225/45/R17 Pilot Sport 3's in front. (I had to replace 2 primacy's after a the last track day)

Rolling diameter only differs by 1.4%, but so far the front grip has improved tremendously, making-round abouts a lot more fun during my daily commute. I do seem to get some extra interference from TC when turned off and not doing the pedal dance.

Obviously I'm not chasing absolute lap times, just enjoying the car as DD and track toy.

I tried searching this, minimal results. Am I missing something as a lot of people complain about understeer? The setup above should cure this, as well as not adding any weight to the rear rolling mass. More extreme would be to go to 205/50R17 at the rear to reduce grip further, rolling diameter will still be the same.

Nope it's not BTM since it's a factory option.

I'm in the same boat with the factory spoiler, but since we also have an auto, we take 6 points for non-BTM gear ratios and added paddle shifters. We drove off the lot with a 10 point car... :/

I'll probably just source a non spoiler trunk lid for track days, but to get around the transmission I'll be seeking a dyno reclass when the time comes to actually compete.

Tapatalk - because smoke signals would be too easy.

I had heard rumblings so I had to look it up. Min TT-D weight is now 2940 for the FRS/BRZ

That's a great way to solve the problem in a very cheap manner, but remember 225 on a 7" wheel is the absolute limit.

We tried this back in 2012 with mild success

That kinda sucks. A bone stock 6-spd FRS (no spoiler, no fog lights, etc.) with a 175lb driver just barely makes that. Mine was 2950lbs with a just filled tank of gas, spare tire in the trunk, manual in the glove box and my 185lbs. Take out the spare & jack for track safety and you've just moved out of TT-D. :I

Exactly what I thought. Kind of a downer, huh?

Correct - my car with stock wheels on it rolled across a truck scale at 2960 with me in it, 2740 without. Can't remember the fuel level at that time. They for sure are not giving the chassis much room to work with, is it really that competitive in TTD to basically allow next to no weight removal?

The car was underclassed in TTD to begin with, IMO

Sorry to take it a bit off topic though.

BTW once I start running tt-d I'll be in a similar boat to you due to my existing mods unless I swap back to stock suspension. Exhaust is a worthless points spend for the frs IMO.
You may want to double-check this year's rules.

I thought last year it was changed to "You can only run E85 if it comes from the factory as a Flex Fuel, or is stated in the manual you can run E85"
