Just a side note, not disagreeing with your post :happy0180:
Also cars in this Shootout are on a spec tire that is FAR from a high performance tire and definately not suited for drag racing. I've had cars in this event before...the only cars that do reasonably ok in the drag portion are the AWD cars. Everything else always runs way slower than it should...Track prep is also non existent.

yeah that seems to be the standard for shootouts, the tires keep the field level (to some extent) and it is usually more of an advertising stunt than anything, but great that they let us get out there and have fun on free tires.

Right at least they have individual drivetrain classes.
Although it doesn't help the overall winners.

I think it is important to realize that perhaps someone who doesn't entirely understand how an ECU or tuning works may use the vague explanation of the ECU is "shutting them down". This may not be exactly what innovate explained during conversation but rather what was transposed here on the forum. Without seeing datalogging that could mean a bunch of things to a tuner. The ECU may have been trying to accomplish something due to certain settings or sensor input that was causing adverse effects. There are many ways an ECU will pull timing or even throttle in this platform (gotta love DBW). I spoke to them for a considerable amount of time and I think they have a good idea of what was happening but again not my place to go into detail I just wanted to clarify that the ECU "shutting them down" is pretty vague and could mean a million different things, some of which are simple tweaks or even possible mistakes in the mapping. Unless there is recorded data or someone was physicaly watching live data there is noway to know what was happening. Some of the dumbest things can make an ECU command the engine to essentially fall on its face. Just my 2 cents

Thank you I really don't know much about the ecu and I have no clue about tuning and I never expected to be describing the situation I was just there to see an FR-S go way faster than mine... Granted that really didn't happen but I'm still glad I went.

I posted this in the new innovate thread yesterday, figured I would re-post it here just in case anyone hadn't seen it. Its MotoIQ's take on the shootout.
