Sriracha 86 Turbo Street Build
Alright, everyone, the time is finally here that my build thread is officially kicking off! I have a lot of parts coming in now that I've put a couple thousand miles on the car to really get a feel for what I need to adjust to better suit my driving style.
**Quick disclaimer** By now you might be asking "Sriracha, you have no turbo parts listed yet? How is this a turbo build?" The simple answer is there is a lot to turbocharging an N/A car, and even more to doubling the stock WHP numbers. This is something I know first hand and as such like to build for the power I want to make, not around the power by fixing broken parts once it's being made. This makes for a much better experience and a much more fun, reliable and safe(ish) car. As such, the first few months will be supporting mods. After that, the fun will be had. If you don't agree with my methods ( or madness ) feel free to check back around winter so you can read this log backward and pretend that's where I started. Before we start here is a quick itinerary of what is currently on order for this week: - Enkei TSP-5 17x9 - arriving 8/22 - Continental ExtremeContact's in 245/40/17 - hopefully also 8/22 - ACT HD Clutch with 11.8lb flywheel - still waiting on tracking info from ft86 speed factory - Dezod motorsports 2.5 catback - Chris is a little swarmed right now so hopefully within the next two weeks. First things first ( 8/20/18 ): Tein Street Basis Z Coil Overs One of the big things I noticed a couple hundred miles in was a bit of body roll at speed on long gradual turns / when attempting to hold a line while linking turns. Before swapping swaybars, I thought I would try lowering the car some on a pair of performance coil overs to see if that was all it needed. Turns out it was just enough for me as of now for it seems to have fixed the issue and it is much more pleasurable to turn now. Not to mention I gained a decent amount of speed on corner entry/exit while being able to hold an ideal line much easier. The car just feels like it's stuck to the road especially at low to mid speeds, a wonderful unknown feeling for anyone knowing my automotive background. It seems pretty hard to upset the balance of these chassis so far, can't wait to see how the larger stickier tires compliment this. Ride quality is nearly stock ( little harsher on the occasional bump ) but besides that pretty smooth. Ended up setting them at 1.2" from the base of the shock, a -0.4" difference from the recommended 1.6" for now while they settle, will readjust when new wheels are put on. Total drop is close to 2" ( high 1's ) from fender to wheel. Heres a few pics of the end result on stock wheels. Coming next my wheels should be here Wednesday ( 8/22/18 ), will post another update when those come in ( and yes I will try to remember to take before pictures this time ). Following that hoping to swap the clutch/fw out this weekend. If you made it this far stayed tuned guys! |

Been a little busy but finally got around to posting. A LOT of things have happened in the last couple days.
-Finally got my wheels on ( Enkei TSP-5 17x9 wrapped with 245/40/17 Continental Extreme Contacts ). -Installed the ACT HD clutch and LW flywheel kit ( 11.8lb flywheel ). *Install and review coming soon now that I have about 1k on it, second to last pic is how many drinks it took a buddy and I to install. -Lowered the car another 0.2" on all four corners now that the coil overs have settled ( total drop of 2" now ). -Got the car aligned and set up with a slight amount of toe out and 2.5 degrees of camber in the rear. - Still waiting on my Dezod catback, Chris said it should be done and shipped the day after Labor day. - Also finally got a mount for my license plate. - Also started an S13 Silvia and NA Miata barn build More updates to come, stay tuned guys.

Alright, it's been a bit since the last update, work's been a bit hectic.
FINALLY got the exhaust in after a little over a month, gotta say the fitment is on point and the sound is just what I was looking for. Here are some pictures. Up next ( coming in tomorrow 10/2 ) are my new brakes, rotors and dot 5 fluids. Turns out heel-toeing all the time has been whats giving my clutch a weird feeling. It's been transferring enough heat over between the two to overheat the current solution causing an inconsistent engagement and pulsation after a few hot laps ( or heavy stop and go ). Below are pics of new exhaust setup and me boiling my brake fluid on track.

TUUUURRRBOOOO
Alright guys BIG NEWS in a quick phone update, not at my computer as I'm on travel right now for the holidays and finally have a minute to update my build log.
TURBO KIT IS OTW!! Spoke with Jesse at JDL and got a deal I couldn't pass up on the kit exactly how I wanted it. Ended up going with: - UEL manifold - GT2860RS - 3 bar map - 2.5" flanges and piping for the hot side - 2.5" resonated and catted over pipe front pipe combo - Thermal black coated hot side - Ceramic Red coated cold side - Cherokee black wrinkle painted intercooler upgrade - Omni 3 bar map sensor - JDL bumper bar - and the standard charge pipe routing Also I got drilled slotted rotors with ceramic pads but that's not nearly as cool as this... More updates and hopefully pictures to come!
