Why don't you both go head on, record it, and tell us.

I think a lot of it has to with the drivers and the car set up. Stock to stock, I think the STI will beat the FRS like a red-headed step-child. With some basic mods to the FRS, I think it could be competitive, depending on the course layout.

Given equal drivers and you are not talking about PAX.... BRZ/FR-S over a '13 STi. Without a doubt. Not even close. A Stock or Street Touring GR STi are way too heavy and awkward at the auto-x. However, if the GR was modified to ASP/SM spec, only then will the GR STi be faster.

Ultimately I think it depends on the driver.. but the best answer for your personal question is a head on head match with your friend =D.
Than switch cars!

Don't know why, but this sort of reminds me of Initial D when the eight six was battling the R32.
As others have said, I'd say it's more dependent on the driver than the car. But if you have two professional drivers, than possibly the STi. Just my guess. |

Tell your friend he's going to win. Thataway to be the underdog, and go into the event without anything to lose, mentally.
Chances are you may perhaps be the happier camper afterwards, who knows? Sorry, I'm just a strong believer in the Driver (and mental preparation) being greater than the Car in many circumstances ... Of course, I could be proven incorrect, but that may or may not change my mind.

The STi would be faster. The launch alone will buy the STi about a second and a half head start, and the better stock rubber will make it able to keep a good pace. Depending on the course layout as well, but I would say the STi would take it.

Drivers race man, hope you know your car! Stock v stock, same driver its the STI... But i doubt your friend will be able squeeze the most out of it.
Double the torque, third more power, real summer rubber, and awd. |

I ran a test and tune a few weeks back with several National level cars at the event. My FRS with only a Perrin cat back was 2ish seconds back on a 55 second course of a couple CSP Miatas and an STX RX8. Both of the cars you are talking about are quite capable in the right hands. This one comes down to driver, not the car.
