Lowering springs recommendations??

I have dealt with a stock car long enough and it is time to start doing things little by little.
I have always dumped money into my cars, but am not wanting to go that route this time with the FRS. Wanting to keep it very simple.
Looking at lowering springs and I thought my mind was made up on getting TRD springs, but now I am unsure if I will really be happy with the drop (as I have read reviews that mention around .5-1" drop). Coilovers are not an option as, like I said, I'd rather keep this a very simple-modded car (unlike my past cars).

This car is basically my daily driver, I do want a comfortable ride, however I am ok with a somewhat stiff ride (like how stock is). I do plan to track (HPDE) this car, but most likely maybe 2 weekends per year… so not much at all.

I know I can't always "have the cake and eat it too"… but I would like to be as close to "having it all" as possible.

I do plan to bump up to a 17x9 ET~35-40 with 255/40/17 tires.

For a visual, this is ideally how i'd like my car to be sitting.

(yes, I know that car is on coilovers… but being that it is not an aggressive drop, maybe there is a good spring that can get me to that height and still provide me with a good ride and great handling for track/spirited driving)

Any input/recommendations as to what springs to go with to accomplish my goals?

TRD/Eibach Pro-Kit Springs will give you a bit under an inch drop, and will feel close to stock in terms of ride height if matched with the stock dampers. This will give you plenty of suspension travel while looking good aesthetically.

The pro-kit on my 2015 Frs droped 1.4in total after appx 1000mi. They take time to fully settle. A few spirited canyon runs will get you there a little quicker! Add the Bilstein B8's Awesome!!

I really enjoy my TRD springs, they will get you pretty close to the ride height in pic, as that car looks to be running 18" RPF1's which will fill out wheel well more. Hard to tell via pictures and off of memory. as nastynate88 said, its about an inch or so drop. All springs will absolutely drop slightly more or less, and will always take time to settle fully. Mine took about 700 miles or so I think to be in the settled state they are now, which includes some spirited driving sessions and a canyon run.

That being said, my TRD springs were way too much effort to get from Toyota. If you have a chance to go through another retailer to get them, and are willing to install yourself, you will be saving yourself quite a bit of money and time. They are rebranded Eibach Pro-kits tho, so going that route will be identical drop/ride.

As mentioned TRD Springs are re-branded Eibach Pro-Kits. Not a bad choice. Will give you about -1.0", ride will be firm.

If you want more, RS*R Superdowns will get you -1.25" all the way around. I'd recommend buying replacement bump-stops from Koni or Eibach. Total cost for both about $300.

You can go with RCE Yellows, they'll drop about .8" but I'm not sure that's enough for your build.

I bought my TRD Springs off Ebay. It was from a dealership in Florida. Look it up
I like the drop. It def reduced the wheel gap but it's not low enough to scrape on most roads where I am.

Before going to coil overs I had H&R blue super sport springs. Really liked the looks and ride.

I have the Swift Spec R's on Bilstein's. Every day I drive 130 miles up & down the 405 in LA, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

if you really want to run that wheel/tire set up, you're going to have to get AT LEAST +38 to clear the spring perch and even then, you'll probably slightly rub tires at full lock. i'd recommend getting 17x9 +38 with 245/40 tires or 17x9 +35 with 245/40 tires if you plan on keeping the stock strut setup. when i was on lowering springs with 17x9 +38 wheels with 245/40 tires, i had like 3mm clearance between the tire and the spring perch.

Love my TRD springs. Definitely a stiffer ride than stock, but totally liveable. Had them on for 15k miles and really no complaints. Love the drop, love the way it handles, loved the price, love that I'm not scraping everywhere.

Unless you plan on making your car a track rat or are really into the stance thing, spend the $200 on TRD's and call it a day. You won't regret it.

I'm running 18x9 +42 with Hotchkis 1" drop and I have about 3mm clearance. But I'm running 225/40 though.

Just to follow this up, I recently got a set of bilstein b14 coilovers for a steal, so figured I'd give them a try, since they're a comfort oriented coilover. Don't think the car rides as good as it did on TRD Springs + stock struts, honestly. And they're better than most $1500 coilovers :S
