20B Rotary

So why hasn't anyone dabbled with the idea of doing a 3 rotor 20B? I know it would be hella expensive, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss the how-to aspect of it. I mean it's compact, light-(ish), and high revving...wut's not to like? Someone here's gotta at least thought about this at one point or another right? I'm assuming an adapter plate would be required. Also, anyone know the weight of a 20B? What if aluminum side housings were used? Preferences?: N/A, Turbo, Twin Turbo, Rotrex, Twincharge? lol. I figure if someone is gonna dump this kind of money for such a build, wouldn't they go all out?

Well needing to dump oil in the engine on a daily basis may be a turn off for some. Or getting 3 miles to a gallon. Then there is the low torque that the boxer already suffers from. Going to a rotary won't help that either.

There are plenty of threads about the idea of doing that op.

20B rotary puts out about 50% more torque vs. 2.0 liter piston engine.

Does it suck at holding boost as well?

I toyed with the idea...
unfortunately I have to pass emissions where I live so I would have to make the ecu read it...
that is what kept me from trying this swap for now.

you're either into rotary or you're not. people don't want to experiment with their money. for the same amount of work, you could/would get something more reliable/tested/proven, aka 2j, ls, etc?.

I just did an LSx swap on my rx7 instead of the 20B.

Now I get 30+mpg while having 500whp/500whtq.

Wait are you making fun of something I said or agreeing? lol

As much as I still like rotaries, theyre just not practical.

BUT, IF I hit the lottery, I would get an N/A 4 rotor PP, and put it in an SLC kit car.

Again if money was of abundance.

Rcr Slc. A dream car of mine! I'll take one with a Lexus V8 TT though.

I like the 20B a lot, one of my favorite engines. That said, the only chassis I've ever thought about putting it in is an FC RX-7. Still would like to at some point if I have the garage space and extra funds lying around...

I briefly thought about what it'd be like to put a 20B in the 86 chassis, but not seriously. While the FA20 isn't the best sounding engine, I have no serious complaints about its capabilities at this point. I think other engine swaps, such as the LSx or 1UZ have a lot more to offer than the 20B.

that is under the guise of being boosted, 26B rotaries can be one hell of an engine with about 500 whp NA that revs like a golf cart.

http://www.definedautoworks.com

idk about you but thats $39,925 well spent for 630 plus hp.

lol thats the 3rd time Ive posed their website

I don't know jack sht about rotaries. But, what are the whp levels for each of these setups: 1-rotor NA, 2-rotor NA, 3-rotor NA??

Or, do those (1, 2 or 3 rotor) not exist in NA form, and have to be FI to pull of any decent numbers?
