Lend him your car to drive while you take the bus to work and pay him off slowly.

Lend him your car so he can blow it up.....

Idk how it works but sometimes insurance could be used, him claim against yours since you're the responsible party.

If you do nothing.... say goodbye to a friend and hello to small claims court.

Take responsibility and either pay in increments until you’ve covered the bill, or sell your own shit and pay up.

You should add more detail. How did you blow a hole in the block? Is the car under warranty? Were you beating on it? Did the car have oil in it?

Not sure how insurance is going to cover a mechanical issue. It might cover other damage (for example if you blow a tire then hit something, it will cover the subsequent damage but not the mechanical issue (the tire) that caused the problem.

As @murdoc says how did the driver cause the issue? If you've borrowed a car and the alternator goes out, you didn't "cause" the problem and you shouldn't be expected to fix it.

When the engine in my Astro "ate" it's motor bearings and tore itself apart, it was going to do that regardless of who was driving.

Like I said, no idea.... but i have seen catastrophic mechanical issues get covered.

Unless you used a shotgun I doubt anything you did could have done it alone. Or maybe donuted the car to death.

Welcome, DubLord -

No, you can't borrow my car!

What kind of car "blew up" (mileage, year, make & model)?

What is the owner of the car asking you to do?

The anticipation is killing me. Was it a 86/frs/brz? Did he just create an account in any random car forum and post his 1st post about a 1987 Chevy Citation he killed?
I think he's just playing the long game here and this will drag on until April 1st.
If this is real though the best thing to do is pack a bag, leave the country, change your name, and possibly get a sex change to really obfuscate your trail if it was an expensive car.

The fact he posted at 10:37 and hadn’t been back since is telling.
