I used a screwdriver to slightly wedge around where the two halves meet then pulled apart from the pointy end.. hopefully that helps

As tight as I could get it by hand with a screwdriver...

Regarding Winjet headlights

If anyone is thinking of doing this to Winjet headlights, you don't have to bake them to get them apart.
Yes you have to remove about 6 perimeter screws and there are the same tabs and hooks, however Winjet uses a molded rubber gasket and not goop to seal the two halves.
Yes heating it makes it more flexible, but I skipped heating the second unit and it came apart without drama in a couple minutes of careful prying.
Putting it back toget was dead easy on both units.
So skip step 17
Also, the high beam solenoid wires are brown/brown (stupid!) and the end connector is different than the Morimoti D2S retrofit projectors. I spliced the Morimoto connector onto the Winjet harness to make it cleaner.

Just a heads up

Appreciate the write-up. Seals are holding up fine as of a week now.

I bought an FRS with this mod done. However, I have moisture inside the headlight

Any specific sealer to use when re-sealing them? I am going to take them apart and try to repair when I install my Perrin CAI.

Thanks!

Butyl Tape is what you need. I'm pretty sure it is the same stuff that was originally on the the headlight.

Found a youtube video using the stuff. Should give you an idea of what it looks like and how to use it.

This thread lead me to do my headlights and they came out perfect! I used the butyl tape that @ragequitfail said to use and it worked great. I wanted to paint the high beam reflectors yellow but couldn't figure out what paint to use so decided that I would just buy yellow lights later on.
