I've only seen a handful of fiesta or focus(st or non) on the street. The twins out number them by far. If that is any indication of the supply for the RS, then it's just going to be a high markup and low numbers get them in the dealers game. |

Very interesting. Looks like it's possible to get the rear to come out under power, at least in the "drift" setting. That alone should make it pretty fun at the track.

I have never been a hot hatch guy but congrats to those who wanted this car from Ford for years. I personally think a Fiesta RS would've been a total bad ass if it had AWD/280hp-280tq and weigh 2995 lbs for 30-32k. But this will probably be 3500 lbs at 37-40k which I don't find impressive. And so many reviewers say the Fiesta ST feels more sports-car like than the Focus ST.

If its <3400lbs & <$38k I think it would be an awesome deal and kill the WRX and Golf. |

With the ST weighing 3230 lbs I feel this will be either 3500 lbs or 3400 + lbs probably more closer to the mid or high.

For what it's worth, here in the Motor City, I see probably 3 Fiesta ST's for every BRZ or FR-S I see on the street, and at least 10 Focus ST's for every twin I see. and 25:1 for base Focus's, to twin ratios....but again this is Detroit, and every where is different. Four hours north east to Toronto and all the big 3 cars completely go away though.

I think this car looks very promising and awesome for a hatch. I have never been a fan of hatches though and couldn't convince myself to get one. I think bare minimum this will be priced at 35k.

I really like this car. The looks are there for me. I like hatchbacks. The power is great and I really like the idea that Ford is maxing the performance so I would not even have to worry about voiding a warranty.
However. The biggest issue for me will be the backseat. I took booster and car seats with me when I was moving away from my BRZ due to the lack of a backseat and the Focus ST was just way too tight. I dunno, I may have to try again (my daughter will be completely out of a car seat in 2017) and a slim booster may fit fine (I have to fit two boosters, and still have room for my son too). Right now my WRX will fit a car seat, a booster, and still leave room for my son to sit in the backseat with his two sisters. But I really do like what Ford did here. I also expect prices will start around $34K and will easily approach $40K+ with options. I also think you will have a hard time getting a deal on this car for maybe 9-12 months until demand slows down. And it being a Ford, I am not sure I trust reliability and quality out of the gate and it would be wise to wait 1-2 years I suspect. |
