rattle from shifter at 5k.+ rpm

I'm at 4000 miles and have noticed that when the windows are down I can hear a rattle in the cabin after getting to 5k and higher when in gear. It didn't used to do this. Anyone else experience this? I'm pretty sure it's coming from within the shifter column, not sure of the technical term for that.

It might be possible for the dealer to swap shifters, but since yours is a 2015, I would have assumed it would have the "new" shifter already(I know some people in 2013 had their shifters swapped). Its possibly the knob itself(something inside it rattles for some people) or the plastic reverse lockout.

There is a TSB on it to replace the shifter assembly. I've had mine in 3 times for the same issue. This last time they sent out a field technical specialist to look at it, it's gone now but I'm sure not for long.

I had this problem too. I took it in to the dealer about a month ago because I knew it was a known problem and there was a TSB out for it. Its been 2 weeks since and no rattles. ill post if it comes back.

A question for anyone who as had this done already.
My dealer had my car for almost 2 weeks. They said they had to remove the entire transmission in order to fix it which seemed pretty absurd to me. is this right?

The TSB posted for that problem on here doesn't go into detail on the repair but does refer the techs to the transmission remove/reinstall documents. So it is possible that they do indeed have to remove it as much as I agree that would be odd!

I too have a audible rattle coming from the shifter area. It starts at 5,5k RPM. In neutral and in gear.

I already had the related TSB performed at the dealership. They claim the current noise is normal....

I'm going back there for another test drive this week.

I'm pretty sure my car had no rattles throughout all the RPM range when it was new. Anyone able to verify this? (I don't want anyone to beat on their car but maybe someone does wring it out once in a while).

With my exhaust I am pretty sure I could not hear any rattles at 5500 rpm in neutral if I wanted too! Now every cop within 2 block may hear ME but rattles would be out of the question!

Mine was finished in just a few hours. They replaced the shifter. I do not think they touched the transmission. I had this done about 2 months ago and have not heard the noise since.

Wow. That pretty much confirms the dealer by me has no idea what they are doing. Also. The rattling came back. So that was 2 weeks of wasted time

The scary part is that obviously one of your dealers did it wrong but we have no way to know WHICH one!

Am I interpreting this correctly that even after the TSB the shifter can/probably will still rattle?

Yes.

Just like the HPFP TSB... swap it out and crickets return Eventually.
