No they called me. But didn't give me a good concrete reason for the change.

Hey guys, do you guys have any recommendations on shops or reputable individuals for installing parts under the car? I have a brand new header coming my way and I honestly have no time and tools to do the installation myself. I also have a set of MTEC Springs that I also want installed as well. I somewhat want to do business with a shop that's familiar with the 86 platform, AFFORDABLE, and convenient. I know there are plenty of reputable shops around the Bay, but the only thing holding me back from contacting them would be their hourly labor rate- aka they probably charge quite a lot due to their popularity.
Needlessly to say, I just want some fellow FT86 members' reviews on local (East Bay) shops. I didn't want to open a new thread for this since I've searched and seen plenty of recommendations.I don't want to be that guy that creates a new thread and have someone comment say "use the search button" lol.

I've used Motorsport Techniques in Hayward for years with my MR2 and they are solid, affordable and convenient (IMO). They can also do the alignment after spring install.

Frequently mentioned on here (but I haven't used them personally) is also Neal and Ed at EQ Tuning in ... Fairfield I believe?

Mission Auto in Fremont did some work for me under the car. Ken does a great job. His prices are totally reasonable but he doesn't do alignments. No long waits. Just call ahead for a good time.

For an alignment and suspension install, I'd go to Roger Krause Racing in Castro Valley. They only do tires and suspension. You'll need to make an appointment for them.

Rodger Kraus is expensive, its like 150 for a alignment. Ive always taken thw frs and dads bmw to motorsport for alignment and any suspension install that requires alignment afterwards, kin usually gives me a couple bucks off on alignment if I do suspension work

@PMok @jsimon7777 Thank you gentlemen for your recommendations! I'll definitely look into Motorsport Techniques and Mission Auto. Hopefully their quotes will be fairly affordable.

Krause isn't all that expensive, and you KNOW they're doing it right. They added on my crash bolts and gave me a 4-wheel alignment for $150. I think a 4-wheel alone is more like 115 or 120.

100 for alignment, usually...

Krause is one of the best, and that's why many racers go there, and why Krause is often booked full during the racing season. FWIW a while back I looked into setting up a group discount kind of deal with a local shop and I contacted both Krause and Motorsport, as well as a few others. Kin @ Motorsport was accommodating and willing to work something out, whereas Krause (I spoke to both Roger and Brandon Krause) seemed almost reluctant to accommodate a group of cars coming through. They have more than enough work coming their way and that's how they acted. I've used them in the past but that encounter left a sour note in my mouth, then again I'm some chump in a cheap sports car with lowering springs, not a race team with infinitely adjustable coil over suspension and other knickknacks. Others (with better setups than I) have had good results with them. But it seems like a bit overkill to go to a full-on race shop and pay that premium price if all you're doing is a simple spring install and basic alignment with minimal adjustment.

In the end the group thing fell apart and I simply recommended people contact Motorsport for their alignments since they had a reasonable price to begin with, even without a group deal. So that's my $.02.

I'll most likely do business with Speed Element in the future since both Motor Techniques and Mission are way over charging me, compared to SE.

To date, this is the most painstaking removal I have done on the FR-S: passenger side valve cover that needs to be drill and a bung (small silver circular piece) professionally welded on. Oh I can't wait to put back on those 8 little screws
