I'm wondering myself as well -- I would like to know if this is even possible or if there's anything wrong.
When I get my headers (probably sometime in july, i'll be trying this out with Stage 1 OFT and then move onto UEL stage 2). |

I had the car into Toyota last Thursday to have them look at a few things and do the ECU firmware update for the idle. They also did an adjustment on the clutch pedal.. it feels a bit better now. The ECU update does smooth out the car a bit and it is not as spastic on idle. I now have a baseline so they cannot say somethings I pointed out were due to the aftermarket header. Still waiting on a call to tell me if the car is done. |

I got the car back after the FT86SF catted UEL header and MTEC shifter spring install. Car now has TRD intake, MTEC shifter springs and FT86SF catted UEL header.
All I can say is WOW. Throttle modulates better and no need to give extra gas on first to get smooth takeoff. Handles lower RPMS better and doesn't lug. Great sound and isn't too loud at all in the cabin with windows up. After a good hearty drive, temps near cat were around 340*F and near coated pipes away from collector was around 214. I may add the SS heat shield above the cat to lower temps upward since the engine undercover seems prevent proper ventilation for the bare cat. MTEC Shifter Springs is a must have. Totally transforms the shifting experience. Goes into each gear better and has a nice positive feel. The tech was very surprised how much better the shifting felt. Video clip below is a drive where shifts were around 4000 - 4500 RPM at the peak. Driving in traffic with windows up. Very good sound level in cabin and awesome sound outside. Won't terrify the neighbors or spay your cat. Thanks FT86 Speed Factory. Got mine installed last week, everything is awesome about it...
...but I'm seeing that some people are getting their headers wrap to lower the temps, is this necessary? Is it safe to run the headers without wrap for like 5 years? |
