The correction to your paint before opti-guard is what takes the swirls out! Optiguard is essentially a clear coat for your clear coat and a longer lasting sealant than a traditional paste wax. You don't have to do very much to maintain it at all but i believe you have to polish it off if you no longer want it on your paint.

Hey Trip, I'm scheduled for a tint next week with Jay. The suntek seems to be a good product. I can post before and after pics.

If you want to try to schedule a tint-day at someones place. Matt 'knows a guy' who has done quite a few of the local Subarus(he did our Mini as well). However, he's usually doing tint for the local dealerships, so he needs a few weeks lead time to schedule one of these days.

edit: I'm also in need of tint, if you're interested.

Let me know which one you are going to go with. I been reading up on the internet on the Suntek Carbon XP and there were issues with it a few years back. I think they fixed it. I will ask Jay about it when I pick up my whip this afternoon.

I was going to go with the middle option of the three. I don't remember what it was called. I'll ask Jay about that as well. Thanks for the heads up.

Cool I see it looks good. Ask about the scratch resistance. I heard the Carbon XP scratches very easy. Which is the high end version.

Middle Option:
SunTek’s High Performance Series is a tried and proven product. It has been an industry staple for years and offers both high quality and performance. Other features and benefits include:
  • A dyed-metal, hybrid construction
  • Charcoal, bronze, and blue options that will enhance the look of any vehicle
  • Superior heat rejection and glare reduction for added comfort
  • Excellent optical clarity
  • Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty

High Option:
Carbon XP, a next generation window film, gives dealers the opportunity to offer their customers enhanced performance for high-end applications. Other features and benefits include:
  • Improved UV rejection over Suntek Carbon tint.
  • The latest in non-metal, nano-hybrid, Carbon technology.
  • Non-reflective, “black” finish that will not fade.
  • Superior heat, infrared, and UV rejection for increased comfort.
  • Signal enabling technology that causes no interference with cell phone, radio, or navigation system signals.
  • Lifetime Manufacturer’s warranty, that includes fading.

Trip, Thanks for the info. I'll talk to Jay about the differences. He likes the suntek and says it's a lot better than the factory tint stuff.
I rode around in Jay's personal truck that he has tinted with the high end tint-XP I guess. It was about 80 degrees mid day and there was zero heat coming through the glass. Pretty impressive. He did have the front window tinted as well with a clearer tint that apparently costs a lot more than the darker tint on the rest of the windows but keeps the heat rays out just the same.
