OFT or EXUTEK on a budget

Hey all, so I was looking into purchasing an OFT to run the e85 tune with my catback exhaust. Everything else is stock. If I’m on a budget should I stick with this or is the ecutek worth the extra few bucks? Thanks everyone

I'm unable to quote you for some reason but my personal experience OFT has been perfect. Unless you plan to get a dyno tune or go FI in the future then OFT is perfect.

I've been running E85, UEL and a axleback for a long time now and have had no problems with OFT, I've even dialed it in better myself in romraider. It's hassle free and doesn't lock the ecu and is quite nearly undetectable when I take the car to the dealer.

You also aren't going to get much gains with just the catback, you should invest in a UEL setup if you can with the catback, and then tune it with the OFT. Either way with OFT and E85 you're going to feel and see serious gains, and the same with ecutek. The difference is how you want to deal with the tuner or if you want to be involved in the process.

OFT if you don't plan on doing anything else, Ecutek if you are planning.on upgrading later (I FI, flexfuel, built motor, etc)

Oft is good for basic basic bolt ons and self tuning. It’s the quickest cheapest way to add a basic ots tune and or go E85.

However once you start modding and getting gains the bug will bite and it’ll never be enough and you’ll want more and more and then you’ll wish you went ecutek, especially if you want to run flex fuel and be able to run pump gas or E85 or any mix with out any headache or worry.

OFT for all NA mods. Most FI kits require ecutek outside of the SBD Turbo kit which was tuned for OFT by Shiv. Let me make suggestion, get a header before doing the OFT. The Gains of a Header+Tune are very noticeable. OFT even has a Flex Fuel Kit now for OFT. Its a bit of a pain as you need to run a wire from the sensor to the ECU on the passenger side.

Go with Tomei UEL. Outside of the ACE Header which are 2-3 times as much performance wise based of my research you will not find a better header for the price. @Tor can help get your OTS stage 2 tune for Tomie dialed in for very almost next to nothing(Small donation 25-50$) This is my plan plus a nameless Axleback exhaust(sound only) Keeping everything else stock. Its mostly very little gains with the OP, Front Pipe and Mid-pipe

Im trying to find reviews or any info about the OFT flex fuel, but nothing. I’m wondering why there isn’t any info on it. Or if anyone even uses it.

I’ve seen that, but not really sure how it works or differs from ff wth ecutek. Was thinking of switching from oft to ecutek for that reason. But maybe I don’t need to. Although I’ll need another custome tune I’m guessing and the current custom e-tune I’m going on 6+ months and still not finalized get 1 revision a month... hopefully done soon.

So can the oft FF auto switch or alter tune based on Ethanol %, does it work as well as ecutek?
Or do you just get a couple custom tunes and reflash based on ethanol% ?

Oft flex fuel hardware works same as other flex kits it converts the ethanol persentage into 0 to 5v signal and this is fed ibto ecu via the re purposed evap pressure intup in ecu.

More info on how felex fuel systems work
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120397

You then need a flex tune to interpret this signal.

The main difference is oft flex tune can only use evap input where ecutek tune can use evap or rear 02 as input.

But the flex fuel harware can be used with ecutek or oft

The oft flex kit also requores a little more installaion than most of thte say moto east or deloceois flex kits which are completly plig and play. Oft one is not overly difficult jist a little more work to install on the wiring side

See oft install video below
