Rear Licence plate keep falling off.
What's up guys!
I been having this problem ever since i got my FR-S. Every time I close the trunk the licence plate will rattle, and after a few times the screws will come loose and the licence plate will fall off. Though now after only a couple closes the licence plate will fall off, it has become were I now have to tighten the screws with my hand every time i open and close my trunk. Its so irritating! Do you guys know a website that sells a new sets of better nails and that round rubber/bumper hole that the nail goes into that i can buy, which will better hold the licence plate in position? -Thanks! |

Hardware store - get a bolt and nut, drill through the plastic fastener, then secure the bolt with the nut from within the trunk lid. Now it won't come off and your plate is impossible to remove without unlocking the trunk.

Thanks! Are you saying to drill holes on the top and bottom of the licence plate and car? Couldn't I just put the new screw into the existing two holes on top? If so, what size nail/screw should i be looking for?

you can also get some thick double sided mounting tape and use it as padding between the trunk and the plate so it won't rattle

No. Use the existing plate holes. You just want to go through the plastic fastener that the current screws go into so you can lock it with a nut on the inside. Use whatever size is sufficient to keep the plate snug. I think I used a 10mm hex bolt on mine. My plate holder has a camera on it so it was important for me to secure it properly. |

Thanks for the advice guys. Just bought a set of screws with a bolt for the other side. It is holding firmly in place, though there is still a little rattle from the plate hitting the trunk.

My screws rusted. I replaced them with slightly larger stainless that fit tighter. Then I stuck three layers of 3M tape together behind the bottom of the plate.
