The street tire paxes were all just a guess this year by Rick and things should be more normal next year.

I think the issue with the 370Z is it's more course dependent than the other cars in the class. So when you get a "horsepower" course it has too much of an advantage over the MX-5, RX-8, and BRZ/FR-S. Like at nationals this year, Stuart was >.5s ahead of everyone on day 2 and besides Fenter and Rhoades (in another 370Z he had been driving for a couple weeks) he was >1s ahead of everyone. No surprise as the car has a ton more horsepower than the other cars.

At this point I see moving the 370Z to BS a done deal. I don't really care one way or the other myself, but I've heard too many folks here as well as other camps like the RX-8/MX-5 who would like to see it moved.

I read somewhere that RTR would receive a 0.975 PAX multiplier against CS.
Which would mean, that some people must have thought that R-compounds make a car about 2.5% faster.

I also found this video where it is claimed that Avon were 4% faster than Hoosier racing slicks:

Go figure.

That's because the CS index is not based on the Twins....supposedly Rick Ruth "calculated" pax based on the fastest car in the class (which was not the Twins).

If the Z gets bumped out of class, it will be interesting to see how PAX gets revised.

Exactly. Heck, I agree so much, I already said it.

Had a friend tell me today that he wrote his letter to move the 370Z to BS yesterday upon arriving home from an AutoX. He's driven another friend's FRS at several events... her FRS being full on CS prep. He got a chance to drive a mild prep 370Z yesterday and said "There's no way in hell that car should be in the same class."

I haven't had the opportunity to run against a 370Z yet with any even moderately experienced driver, so I still can't say first hand. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. I just pray that our PAX gets a little less shitty next year

They put something in the water at Nationals... you just come back a better driver

Did I say water? I meant beer

And thanks! I thought I was going to have cone trouble all day but I managed to get in a clean flyer!

How much faster is STX compared to RTR?
(That plus the 1.5% may give the approx. total potential difference.)
STX without the power mods and with race tires is basically CSR :P

Well, STX is still allowed to have wider rims, a lowered and stiffer suspension, lighter seats and more. Not sure what difference this all makes though.
