If this thing had a different spoiler, extra 40hp, blue ribbon metallic (or whatever you call that red Mazda uses on the new Miata) & light up badges then I'd learn to live with the catfish mouthed front bumper and trade in my 10 series.

(I threw in the light up badges to see if anybody noticed)

I know all these videos and this is exactly my point. They are comparing a high-spec mx5 rf with brembos, bilsteins and stickier tires with a base 86 having the prius tires. Price difference is also 5k higher for the mx5. If they were comparing similar spec'd cars, then we could have a discussion. Otherwise, it is an apples to oranges comparison.

Yes it seems like the Miata will always be given the advantage by the press since it's their default darling. Equivalent spec of each car and same tires will give the BRZ the advantage, but nobody has tested that yet. The press wants to perpetuate the '86 needs moar pwr OMG' narrative, because it gets them clicks and comments.

Not sure about any of this now with the Miata power bump though.

Wasn't sure if the TRD pics were an illusion so went to tirerack.com to compare Michelin PS4 diameter + 18" wheels to stock.

Sure enough, the TRD SE is ¾" higher than a stock 86 on 17's. Are they trying to sell TRD lowering springs? Sad that TRD may well have upset one of the main features of the 86, a low CG.

The TRD lowering springs, like the TRD sway bars, are available as a port or dealer installed option with full warranty, but I wonder if they tested the spring compatibility with the Sachs dampers?

We'll know if they come out with a new p/n for them.

Ha Same. It doesn't look like Toyota will be offering the Brembo Brakes as a add on for the 86 GT models. I am a Toyota owner, but I think I will be going with the Subaru BRZ Limited with Performance Package over the TRD model to save a few thousand.

Are they gonna do the Scion thing where they have to run your VIN number to see if you got the special edition 86; for you to get the special parts?

I just noticed the press release for the 2019 models included this:
"Available All-New Exterior (Neptune) and Interior (Red/Black) Colors"
I'm curious about Neptune...
