Insurance for this car went up so much.
For a comparison, my rates since I got FR-S in 2012...
2012: Prius = 657, FR-S = 661
2013: Prius = 611, FR-S = 614
2014: Prius = 630, FR-S = 601
2015: Prius = 607, FR-S = 627
2016: Prius = 600, FR-S = 826

So, why jump so much from 2015 to 2016? I never got into any accident nor filed any claim.

So what were the increases like on the FRS?

It was stable for 4 years and then increased over 30% all of a sudden for 2016. Maybe you misunderstood my post. The list in the post is my insurance premium for both '12 Prius and '13 FR-S from year 2012 to 2016.

Yeah.. I am going to have to shop around, but FYI I did check progressive and they were 500 bucks cheaper, but I am saving that in homeowners insurance and the coverage for home owners is fantastic.

Holy crap. I just checked Allstate and did a quote online and almost fell off my chair. they want 4k a year. I think it is the area I live in.... I know a friend of mine lives in another county and his car insurance is super cheap and then he moved to another county and it went up 400%.

I had mine go up 50% when I moved a block and crossed a road that was a territory boundary one time.

Maybe ....just maybe, they figure you are overdue for an accident and they are just building an "escrow" for your account .........

No, I didn't move. Same cars, same drivers, same address. Interesting to know that different counties have different rates though. I didn't know that until I read it in this thread.

Oh no. One time, over 10 years ago, I knocked off a parked motor cycle in the parking lot that I didn't see causing about $1k damage. My insurance premium went up to about 3 times as much as I'm paying now. With $500 deductible, the insurance paid $500. So, the insurance company got back $500 they paid just in 3 months. They kept the rates high for 3 years... I wish they give the insureds choice to pay out of pocket.

Don't even need to go to a different county. Even larger cities are broke up into areas and you can pay way more or less just by having an address that is feet away from somebody else.
