I doubt it without some modifications. You'll be needing to relocate the turn signals since the FRS has them in the fog light area and the new one has it in the headlight like the BRZ.

For the current BRZ -> New 86 yeah, but not for the current FRS without replacing the headlights.

On the flip side which seems like what everyone wants to do:

If you want to put an FR-S bumper onto an 86 it will work, you either need to cap the hole for the turn signal area and make it a blank clear reflector or do a small amount of body work to make it flat. Alternatively you can tap into the headlight circuit and easily create a switchback turn signal, there will most likely be kits available. Mind you the BR-Z also has a DRL in the front bumper as well so if you wanted to put a BR-Z bumper onto the 86 (Don't know who or why you would) you'd have the same issue with having a useless lighting receptacle.
It's hilarious that it's the inverse of the issue you described (86 to FR-S bumper)

As for installing it outright it'll be the same process as you would to remove the bumper on our cars, all the mounting points must be the same, we've even seen the same fitment issue that happens when the bumper is removed in some of the early photos at NYIAS, so it'll have a 10 mm bolt some pop clips and a pop clip behind the side-markers. I can only surmise this due to the fact the sidemarkers are exactly the same USDM yellow ones on the pre-2017 cars. Also the headlights follow the exact same shape and mounting size. Also from photos the hood seal seems to be different as I can't seem to see it or an alternative has been created so you don't have to see it throughout the center or that may be a preproduction error as you can still see it at the edges

In the end it seems like swapping an FR-S bumper to an 86 bumper isn't going to be a straight swap because you have to do some electrical work or cap the turn signal reflectors, and for an 86 to FR-S bumper swap you'd lose turn signals which means you'd need headlights with turn signals like the spyder headlights or even the OEM ones from the new 86 which still requires a small amount of electrical work. If squad is serious here it's a pick your poison sort of deal

Easy. Just need to figure out the turn signals as it's missing on the 2017- bumper as it moved into the headlight assembly. Hood line, headlights, all seals and gaskets are exactly to shape. A few of the invisible lower underpanel have different pinning points but nothing you can fix with zip ties, or buying new 17 underpanel too.

Easy fix would be either of the BRZ headlight which will fit and have turn signals inside, or the new 86 LED 2017 headlight. All those will need minor electrical wire modifications but not difficult at all.

We've done a few here and in Japan already.

There shouldn't be any issues I'd imagine.

But why you would want to replace the classic front bar with the 2017 version I don't know.

Personal tastes and all, but IMO the 2013-16 front bar craps all over the 2017 version.

Exactly that. Personal tastes.

With that being said, if I owned a 2017 86, I might have done a Zenki conversion as well.

One thing to note that's minor when swapping 2017 Toyota 86 bumper on a 2013-16 FR-S.

The bezel frame around the headlight is slightly different and would need to be purchased to perfectly snap the bumper upper tabs in place. While the bumper and headlight meet fine, the bracket around the headlight is different. Also the left and right under panel covers are different so if you want to retain its function as dust cover under there it will be replaced as well.

Otherwise it's just as I posted before. Biggest work is figuring out the function of turn signals as new bumper does not have turn signals on it, as 2017 headlight has it integrated in the headlight assembly, much like how the 2013-16 BRZ had them inside. Having said that, a used BRZ headlight will suffice too.

Have fun!

Yes, personal taste or slight alteration and improvement of aerodynamic efficiency and downforce as well as radiator funneling . Just like F1, it's just a matter of priority for the owner. Track users will probably appreciate the slight bump in cooling and stability at triple digit speeds. Others might just like the more conservative straighter lines and natural aesthetics.

I just think it's nice that in the end, we have very polar priorities in designs and a choice to fit either one depending on our owner useage.
No need to call blasphemy. Enjoy it as a choice.

Hey Moto.

What about the rear bumper? Straight fit into older model?
