I work in the same town you're in, according to your post history. Let me know if you ever want to check it out or take it for a drive. Or if you ever want to help me wrench.

It's a blast.

I'm planning to keep it stock since the 998cc A-series is so nice to work on. Who cares if it starts to get scary at 55mph? Hah.

I did find storage and it's going in in a couple of weeks so at least I got to take it out for about 50 miles yesterday:

That's awesome man! Have fun with it! I still dream about the day I can do a 50 mile journey in my Mini!

Maybe we should start a forum for Mini+FT86 Enthusiasts...

Nah, I look at it sometimes but I'm slowly backing away from Facebook.

For sure. Well if you want to look me up on Facebook my name is Chris Fairbanks. I'd definitely like to at least check the Mini out in person and go for a ride sometime!

I'd rather have that issue driving a classic Mini than something that's stanced. lol

Potholes are the bigger issue. 12" wheels make for a lot of dodging. Fortunately the car is small enough that you usually have some room to move around in your lane.

I'm moving into the area, about an hour south of Chicago, for a new job opportunity. Are there any regular meets around Chigago?

Yes, coffee haus in Schaumburg, but it's a little ways away from you. Check out the upper Midwest owners Facebook group for more events: https://m.facebook.com/?hrc=1&refsrc...%2Fhr%2Fr&_rdr
