Just watched the whole youtube video.

I guess it's a good thing they put the GT86 at the very end, or I may have stopped watching...

He mentions how effortlessly the car swings its ass loose at even a lowly 20mph. Now think back to the first few wrecks we had reported on this forum where the driver claimed to be going slowly before spinning out and no one believed them.

I agree. Went around a corner today and had it sideways (nobody around). I'm leaving the tires AS IS.

I have said it before, and will say it again.
Those Prius tires only makes the more enjoyable to drive. A wise choice of Toyota/Subaru.
Totally agree with Clarkson there!

But JC says they have gone to the opposite of fat and low profile tires....
I don't consider 215 tires to be skinny tough. yeah, they are not wide. But skinny? neh..
And 215/45-17 the opposite of low profile? Id consider it low profile. Especially considering its a stock tire.

Some cars in comparison with their stock tires:
Nissan 200SX s14 - 205/55-16
Toyota MR2 (Roadster, MR-S) 185/55-15 front 205/50-15 rear
Toyota GT86 215/45-17
BMW (E30) M3 205/55-15
BMW (E36) M3 225/45-17
BMW (E46) M3 225/45-18
Porsche 911 (classic) 185/70-15 front 215/60-15 rear
Porsche 911 (964) 205/55-16 front 225/55-15 rear
Mazda MX5 (NA) 185/60-14
Mazda MX5 (NB sports model) 195/50-15
Mazda MX5 (NC) 205/45-17
Mazda RX7 (FD) 225/50-16
Mazda RX8 225/55-16 / 225/40-19 on Spirit R

yes, most are older cars. But thought it was funny to see how the tires compare.

That thread has the full ep plus a short report from JC about the car which as an owner of the car was a great read.

Btw he keeps saying we have 197 horses... Is that to the wheels? Because I thought we have 200.
in the USA it is 200hp, everywhere else they only get 197hp. IIRC, they changed the exhaust or something to free up the extra 3hp

I love the fact they used American cars from the 60's vs a M5. Because that makes sense.

To add to this, the oem tires only look skinny because they're Eco tires. Replace them with 215 sticky tires and they'll look wider. Tire sizes aren't really a good indicator of the actual tread width.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but engine power is actually 147 kW which is 200 'imperial' Hp (in America), and 197 'metric' Hp everywhere else because of the DIN standard - i know it as "Pferdestärke" (PS) horsepower because it's a funny word haha

But seriously, you guys don't get any more power or different exhausts.
