I know the chances are slim, but I'll be heading to Neal's for some work next Tues morning and will probably go for a little drive after before heading back to Sac. Anybody interested in joining me?

@Clipdat @PMok @PandaBRZ how are the east bay roads looking? or should I just do lake beryessa on the way back?

Palomares is scheduled to reopen May 5th and the Redwood reopening date is still TBD.

Yeah, I'm jelly too and I've already got other stuff Saturday morning and on Sunday I'm flying to the east coast to spend a week and a half in a place with no elevation changes with a probably boring rental car. I may have to do a quick Felter/Sierra run for a late lunch tomorrow or Friday.

If you haven't seen the collapsed portion of Mines, here it is.

Mines, IMO, has been pretty much been washed away of the gravel that made it no fun even for solo driving. There are small patches of gravel, fallen rocks, and dirt but more or less folks turning on and off the shoulder of the road. It is by far been improved since months ago where the under of the car was just a getting a beating from the gravel.

I debated going to San Jose but instead I decided to turn into Del Puerto Road. It's been 10+ years I've been on this road because the last time I was on it, my bike and I didn't do too well. It's still a crap road in the beginning but improves half way thru to Patterson/I5.

Anyone thinking of going to the Blackhawk C&C this Sunday? I was thinking of going and then seeing if any roads in the area are drive-worthy. I'll be at break-in by then too, so that would be very nice.

What's your experience with canyon driving (sorry I don't post/read posts often)? IMO, if minimal experience, continue to break-in the car in regular street driving.

There are drive-worthy roads down from Blackhawk (towards Livermore). Route it and you may find yourself in San Jose (Mines Road).

Bad news, guys. Saw a sign on 84 a couple days ago that said Palomeres will be closed until 30JUN. That reopening just keeps moving further away.
