I've not seen this before

Just picked up my new 86, and I have a dumb question. I don't remember ever seeing a car where the engine bay was not painted either black or body color. On mine, it's white, and looks like the car was painted orange (supernova) with the hood closed. Even the underside of the hood is white, not orange. Are other people's cars like this?
Thanks!

If you hadn't bought the car new I'd have said the previous owner had it repainted by a shitty paint shop. I think I would wander around various dealerships and look at other 860's to see if they were all like that.

Look under a lava cars' hood... they have a big difference in color too.

There is another of those cars local and his looks the same.

I'd imagine all 860s are like this. A similar thing happened with the burnt orange versions of previous cars. It has something to do with the multi stage paint I believe that Subaru uses. @Tcoat can explain better I'm sure.

Hello alan21631, welcome to 86 ownership and to the forum ......

Well, the engine compartment and the underside of the hood on my car is white ........... but, the car is white .......

Is your car brand new .. ??

If so, you just have a "special-special edition" ........ most likely, the only one made ....... 1 of 1.

So, be happy!

Red intake are on both 86 and BRZ for 2017 as long as they are MT. AT are black
