Replaced the dome, doors, trunk, license plate, and reverse lights with LEDs. Cost about $40 on Amazon.

So happy, thanks to the DIY thread, it only took about 45 minutes

I'm not at home so I couldn't correct the color in photoshop, they're not that blue in person

Getting tint next week, then new tail lights.. then I'll probably be done for the summer.

The leds for the license plate lights were really finicky. Not sure if anyone else had that problem. I had to take needlenose pliers and tighten the contacts on the connectors.

Not as bad as Zoti and Guff though… but still sucks. Guess i'm finding a PDR person.
I got a great guy in McKinney if you want. PM me. I am taking my car to his place for an estimate tomorrow.

The HU itself is a night and day difference. However, I'm currently dealing with the problem that my door speakers are now not working. A month ago the door speakers suddenly stopped working even when I had my factory HU in, so I'm positive it has nothing to do with the new Pioneer head unit. I'm reading that it might have to do with the factory amp.... hope I get to the bottom of this!

Dang that's no fun. I'm still new to the car, but is the stock amp still better than an aftermarket HU powering the speakers? In my older cars, first thing I always did was bypass the stock amp

I've been disappointed in the sound. I want to upgrade the woofers in the door, give them more power, and then one or two 10 subs in the future.

Damage estimate more than expected? Shouldn't insurance cover all but your comprehensive deductible??

Dude, I literally just went to bypass the amp as a trouble shoot. Turns out the OEM amp is a blown out POS.
To answer your question my new HU throws out 50 x 4 and I have to say its enough without the factory amp but I think its necessary to add another amp. The balance doesn't sound too great because you can't control the door woofers to be louder than the dash without the amp. So I'm disappointed as well and will be replacing my amp to make full use of my HU and alpine speakers.

Oh. It's what I expected. I just know there are people out there that do PDR and can do it for cheap. I want a new car. They get a deal.

Cool cool, thanks for the info. Good luck!

I'm also not used to more than 4 speakers in a car. Hoping it won't be too hard to amp some speakers and still have everything sound good. I'm not even sure if there's even a crossover for the dash speakers I'm gonna lurk the electronics forum for a few weeks.

So you're running the dash speakers and the rears on the HU? So I guess you'll run RCAs to an amp to power the doors? Just learning here
