That and just because someone puts their hands on the wheel doesn't mean they are looking at the road. Eye tracking would be better.

Can't remember if I mentioned this but I drove a LYRIQ for about 250 miles total a few weeks back, over a long weekend. 100 miles of that was using SuperCruise. It is serious magic on it's mapped roads, which included some stretches of two lane roads.

It completely freaked me out on a 4 lane divided highway when it engaged in passing. Not because I was concerned but because I wasn't ready for it to do it on its own.

Even with it working flawlessly I couldn't fully relax on two lane roads just from my own nervousness with handing over control. On divided highways though it was definitely as serious step up from advanced cruise control.

My experience with Autopilot was nice. Even though I had to touch the steering wheel to apply inputs, it was like a superior cruise control that was hands free. I stayed alert, but it was overall a less fatiguing driving experience, so I could see the value and look forward to the development of these systems across all brands. I'll have to try out Supercruise too someday. It sounds like it is coming along well.

If they put a turd on wheels and it could do 2.9 seconds 0-60 would it not still be a turd?

Rhetorical question. Asking for a friend.

Musk does a lot of improv, and it doesn't work at all for him. Also, why do a throwing test of a baseball or whatever when the last test against the glass was a metal ball? Like people can see right through that. I have seen videos of people punching glass of cars and throwing rocks at the window of a BMW only to have it bounce off, so this just seems bad.

Yea, he's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is, but I kind of like seeing an awkward geek make good.

@wbradley can't disagree with your "friend". Let's not even mention the price is $20K more than what they originally said it would be.

Has a range extender option that adds another 50kWh'ish battery that will go in the bed and bring the total mileage close to 440-470 miles for an extra $16k. Based on the specs, I'm not surprised the price climbed. Not for me. No truck is, but I'm sure this is special in a weird way and ostentatious enough that it will be popular. With that said, it is priced out of the market for many people, so I expect the price to drop over time, as they improve the manufacturing process. Yet, the top trim is faster than a base 911 while towing means you get what you pay for.

Some courageous choices here. The new alloy chemistry, and developing an entirely new method to form it, are quite impressive. Whatever one may think of Elon personally, results must be acknowledged.

Well, let's be accurate. It's faster in the quarter mile, but not much further than that. Like most EVs with no gearing it has a low top end speed (112MPH for the bottom tier, 130MPH for the top).

Most trucks don't have a high top speed. Fact that it could burn a 911 0-60 or down the road to a quarter mile from a traffic light in real world scenarios means it is appealing to people who want to punk sports car owners. Of course the 911 will be faster on a track or at high speeds because of gearing and aerodynamics, but that isn't really the point.

I remember when the F150 SVT Lightening in the 2000's advertised that it was faster than a Ferrari...not around a track or at top speed. Same thing.
