in fact the pro vs joe. the joe was faster in the mustang.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...in_graphs.html

right at the top of the page

Joe vs. Pro
Drivers
2011 BMW M3 2011 Mustang GT
JOE
92.07 sec 91.52 sec
PRO
87.67 sec 87.76 sec

the pro, it was basically the same. 0.09 seconds. less than 1 second difference. i think it's fair to say less than 1 second is essentially the same thing.

so no; they will get almost exactly the same lap time, if it's a pro driver. and the mustang will be faster, if it's a joe driver.

Listen, I would take a M3 over a GT anytime. It's just a sexier looking car, & the interior is swank. I'm not trying to say the M3 is a bad car. & Miata wasn't either. He was just pointing out a verifiable, quantifiable fact that it provides similar performance for way less $.

Bottom line, he was right. You were wrong.

being bitter about it isn't going to change that.

YW.

BTW guys, i'm not trying to say go out and buy a stang GT instead of a FR-S or BRZ. I'm just pointing out that there is serious competition at that price range, & why i think it will be closer to 20k than 25k.

Personally i love the styling of the FR-S & BRZ. It's "dead sexy baby yea!" as austin powers would say. & i want one because of that & also because i think there will be a huge aftermarket with which i can customize it to make it my own, so to say.

But at too high a price, they really will be pushing people away; instead of drawing them in and making them lifetime subaru/scion/toyota customers.

If they're smart, they should make this car the equivalent of a loss leader (not literally because you can't take losses on mass produced cars & survive in the auto industry). Sell it close to cost to get lots of young buyers to love your brand; they will come back to it again when they need a practical sedan, and again when they need a minivan, and again when they need a kids just moved out second-youth sports car, and again when they need a big soft-ridin old-man-sedan.

The same will apply to FRS.
To the Japanese drift king, FRS with prius tires may be "rewarding", "maneuverable", or "true joy to drive sideways".
But to the 99% of FRS fans, FRS could be no different than any other passenger car but with non sticky tires.

I've taken programming in other languages, had a job coding in C++ and SystemVerilog, and lived/studied with computer engineers and computer science majors. I've never had to touch HTML. But if we have to modify code, we do it minimally e.g. copy the xD code template, comment out the price code, and only change what needs to be.

I can see a fully loaded FR-S at 26 grand, but definately not a standard one. Yes it's a good looking car, but there is way too much competition at that price.

Akio Toyoda said specifically it would be priced low enough that people would get surprised. That would be closer to 20-23K.

at 26k for a scion; they have to deal w/

Mustang GT $25,800
(412 hp)

Audi A3 $27,000 (219hp AWD, luxury)

Dodge Challenger R/T $27,800 (410 hp)

Mazda RX-8 $25,500

Mazda Miata $21,900

Mazda Mazdaspeed 3 $23,800

VW GTi $23,900
or
VW GTi w/ DSG $24,900 (arguably one of the best autos ever, definitely the best in this price range)

Volvo C30 $23,200
Volvo C30R $25,400

I make same coment abouth that months ago about toyota screw in this up in the price and a bunch of people jump over me, if this happeng to be in the 25k price range toyota finnaly fuck this up bigtime. Let see now how many in this forum are going to buy this car with the amounth of better cars at this price range in the market rigth now. At 25k GAME OVER BOYS AND GIRLS

if toyota employees are reading these forums theyre probably laughing like hell at us getting all bent over a possible but not likely pricing leak. they should realize that many of us like to plan out our finances as far ahead as possible and withholding vital info like that is not helping. the suspense machine rolls on...
