Sneak peak of the Original Short Ram Intake system that Don makes. I just installed this today into my vehicle. Full install guide and review will be shared sometime this weekend.

You won't visually see any difference. The Pipe is 2inches longer in the front and a different air filter is used.

All -

I wanted to post the following information.

Disclaimer: I want to make sure that this post is definitely not knocking what Don has done, because it has been a fabulous trip so far working with him.

Today in Illinois, it is 104F degree heat with high humidity. Having Don's short ram intake installed for many weeks without error, today the check engine and skid control lights lit up in my 6AT BRZ. Long story short, under various tests, and Acctron Error code P1071 tests (Too Lean in Bank 1 A/F), there is an A/F issue due to the humidity. Therefore, his SRI has been removed, and I reinstalled the stock intake system (with noise generator delete & K&N filter installed). Codes went away. Intake growl is now missing, and the AP exhaust still sounds good, but not as much as when the SRI was installed.

What's next? Hmmm....Don?

The engine bay doesn't look so sexy anymore:

First time we've run into this issue w/ the Short Ram. Cold airs have this version and have not been remedied. I'm going to reinstall on my car for further testing. Seems somehow the heat today has caused an issue. Nonetheless I will figure it out. This is the first incident we've had so far w/ the intakes so I guess were not doing that bad so far. Something I wasn't able to reproduce yet.

That code is really very common on Subarus throughout the years. It's usually either caused by a real lean condition, poor MAF housing design, or in rare instances caused by a metal MAF tube retaining heat which throws off the sensor. I doubt it has anything to do with humidity.

What led you to deduce that it was the humidity, and not your actual AFR being lean....?

Maybe the diameter of the Intake is too big? OEM seems to be around 3.25". I doubt it, I have read how much R&D went into this intake. I'm really impressed.
