Billet Race Seat Mounts
As most of you know, we put a big emphasis on two things: Quality parts, and getting the community involved. We've been detailing our racecar development mule over in the Build Thread section (Link), and now that the cage is done, we're about ready to start installing the "real" racecar stuff. Seats, fire system, master kill switch, things like that.
We designed these seat mounts using a 3D scan of the interior of the car to maximize headroom and allow as many possible mounting configurations as possible. In this image, you can see them being used to mount our Racetech halo-style seats like we'll be using, but they can accept just about any common race seat mount due to the large quantity of M8x1.25 threaded holes. They bolt up to the factory seat mounting points using Class 10.9 hardware. You can see the optional sub-strap mount for using a 5 or 6 point harness. They're being made out of 6061-T6 aluminum with a military-spec black anodizing. Designed and made here in the US. We're hoping to have these in production in the next month or so. Prices are still up in the air, but that's the whole point of this post. The parts are already designed and sent out for quotes, but the community feedback will help us decide how many we order. Obviously the more we order, the lower the price will be. So what do you say? Are you in for a pair or two? Last edited by GSpeed; 02-24-2016 at 02:31 PM. |

I'm not in the market for these, but love your approach to making go-fast parts. If I decide to really get after modifying my car sometime I'll be talking with you guys. Great work.

I actually have 2 race seats in my car, I mounted them using the 'planted seat base' and usual L shape recaro bracket.
It was a pain in the ass, because first the holes on the planted were not ligning up, and were not nearly as far back as I needed them. They would work fine with sliders, but considering the tight headroom with the roll cage I could not afford slider. Then i have 2 Momo daytona seat, one is the base size, the other is an XL size, which is 1.5" wider. It was a total pain in the ass to try to adjust the side brackets. Also the 'planted' system has some sort of sub-bar , but it is not located where it should be, it is very forward. So an adjustable sub-bar would also make a big difference. I am looking forward to a better mounting solution! Now I want to know , what is the main difference between the G-Speed mount and the VAC one ? I assume you guys purchased a set of VAC to check them out ? Can you post exact dimensions for your mounts ? something precise so that we can check it if works for us. I am personally quite interested to buy at least one set, may be two. Depends on pricing Any early bird specials ?

We should be able to post some rough mounting dimensions, but the whole point of the wide variety of mounting holes and slotted mounts is so you can always get something to line up. We know it'll bolt to the floor, and will properly fit to the angled seat mounts (they're not square or planar, so the 3D scanning was worth it). |

You might get a better response in the track section.

HOWEVER. We decided since this design isn't worth pursuing, we're going to be making a low-profile formed steel mount designed to work with the Recaro double-locking sliders. Here's a peek at the design. These parts have already been ordered, and should show up by the end of the month. They'll be 1/8" cold-rolled steel with black zinc plating. They'll be sold with or without the Recaro sliders included, which bolt up to pressed-in fasteners to make them super easy to install. We feel this will be useful to many more people than a billet fixed mount. |
