Apologies if this is posted in the wrong thread but considering I have these wheels I believe it is relevant.

I am considering getting mud flaps now that I have the 17x9 +35 RPF1s. The two options I am considering are the OEM ones and rally armor. Two questions;

1. Those with OEM; is it providing enough protection; don't care about water and rain as that is not their purpose. Concerned about rocks.

2. Those with RA mud flaps; do you have any issues with clearance. For me, main concern is with speed bumps.

2. You shouldn't have any clearance problem with either due geometrical clearance on speed bumps, it goes right after wheel after all. But i had some issues with RA when backing up or going over (for eg. parking) road kerb, as RA's metallic piece is below bumper line, and if you bend by it, there is chance to break out mounting bolts. They should have positioned it a bit higher, so that only bendable flap part is below bumper.

Thanks for the info. In regards to this metallic piece, I am gathering this should only be an issue of reversing as the force will be trying to pull it off the car. Am I correct with that assumption?

I don't think they are that huge. Most run a 40 profile on a 17" with 245 width. Adds an extra 12mm sidewall and about 24mm to overall diameter.


Reason being;
1. Increased ground clearance; I am running a splitter that sticks out quite a bit. On stock wheels and tyres from time to time scrapped a bit, but now I haven't had any issues


2. Wanted to fill the gap between tyre and wheel arch without dropping the height too much


3. Love chucky sidewalls!!


4. Speedo as 100km/h was over stated by 5km/h. Going to a bigger diameter reduces this difference.

I'm running the OEM mudguards and I find them fine for deflecting road crud and rocks from hitting the door and side of the car.

So I've read most of this thread. I'm going to get some 17x9s et35 with 245/40 or 255/40 autocross tires (e.g. RE71R or similar).

The reason I'm going with this size is because I'm going with a supercharger soon and want the extra tire. However, I don't want to be forced into coilovers yet (eventually I'll go there). Am thinking of going with lowering springs as a stopgap.

I definitely want to dial in as much negative camber as I can with bolts (hopefully close to 2 degrees). My question is, would it be a bad idea to go with 255 in terms of rubbing? It seems lots of people run 245s on the stock strut with lowering springs and camber bolts, but couldn't find many people running 255 lowered on stock struts.

Also, and I correct in saying that there wouldn't be any issues with 245 or 255 on 100% stock suspension?

Yes. They said it will fit stock suspension.
Ill do 245/40/17 with 17x9+38.
Maybe -1.5 or -1 camber on front
And no camber bolts.

Noticing that there is some misinformation out there.

I thought the 17x9 et 35 RPF1s were 16 lbs.

Just got mines installed last week. 17x8.0 and 17x9.0 (rear) . The wheels don't poke out and don't rub either. Ride feels awesome !

Anyone know if there are any new options for Big Brake kits besides the AP Racing Sprint?

I remember reading a few years back that the AP was the only kit that fit and even then it only had about 2mm clearance.
