Yea, I would usually have it once a year in Cali when the Dungeness season first opens and the first bunches hit the market for pretty cheap, and they crack and clean for free.

the engineers i know, they'd still be 'assembling' it for weeks to come.

don't ask me how they managed to weld wood, but they can.

The engineers I know would not be assembling anything. They would design it and then hand it over to somebody else to attempt to assemble. That way if it doesn’t work they can blame whoever built it and be hero’s for “finding” the issue and changing the design.

If you are traveling 101 on the Oregon coast, I would recommend south beach fish house for crab and fish. Just south of the bridge in Newport. Easy to recognize by the flying saucer over the outside cookers. Found it one day when we saw police and ambulances all over the parking lot, always a good sign.

The engineers I know would meticulously document how to assemble it, go through the assembly process following the documentation to prove it works, test the final assembly, and only then hand that procedure over to somebody to follow the steps to assemble others of said 'it'. When that somebody asks for help, the engineer would stop what they are doing, find the part of the documentation that was skipped or ignored by the assembler, fix it for them, and move on. Meanwhile the assembler gets rewarded for meeting deadlines while the engineer has to explain why they are behind on their work without throwing their good buddy assembler under the bus because we are all one team after all.

Wait... What was this all about again?

I eat there about once a year. My uncle has a beach house just on the south side of the bridge that we stay at.

When I first started college I worked on the grounds crew for a school district. One of the other workers, an older Portagee man named Manuel became a good friend. He would get me tickets to his Portuguese group's crab dinners. OH MAN, they were the best. They weren't cheap; I think they were $25 in 1982/3, but all the crab and wine you could eat and drink.

One time, a buddy and I went to one, and we sat there until we were the last people in the place. These very nice women were just so tickled to serve us. We ate until we had about a 2 foot stack of shells between us, and the ladies were standing next to us with jugs of homemade red wine ready to refill our glasses. It was very fun.

It looked kinda like that, without the hats.

Anybody else do this? Sometimes when I'm feeling down I go into the members classified section for "wheel and tires" to get a good laugh.
